Job summary

Philips in Bengaluru is seeking a System Support Engineer – Engineering Infrastructure to install, configure, and maintain infrastructure for embedded software development and verification. You will support engineering laboratories, workstations, servers, and asset management to ensure readiness and reliability.

The role requires 5+ years of experience across infrastructure, virtualization, and lab environments, with strong networking and Windows platform skills.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in infrastructure installation, system administration, engineering laboratories, networking, virtualization, or development infrastructure supporting product development organizations.
• Hands-on experience in installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of infrastructure systems, servers, workstations, networking, and virtualization environments.
• Strong experience configuring and maintaining Windows workstations and servers supporting engineering environments.
• Hands-on experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware, Hyper-V, ESXi, Nutanix, or KVM.
• Good understanding of networking concepts including DNS, DHCP, Routing, Multicast, VLANs, and wired/wireless network infrastructure.
• Experience in server and workstation hardware diagnostics, troubleshooting, and infrastructure maintenance.
• Experience supporting engineering laboratories, engineering test stations, embedded development environments, or medical device platforms.
• Familiarity with firmware installation, software deployment, engineering environment configuration, and engineering asset management.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience defining, documenting, and standardizing engineering processes to improve robustness and repeatability.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot infrastructure systems supporting embedded software development, verification, and engineering activities.
• Establish, configure, maintain, and support engineering laboratories, engineering test stations, and development environments to ensure infrastructure readiness for embedded software verification and automation.
• Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot medical devices, engineering hardware, workstations, servers, and supporting software required for engineering and verification activities.
• Manage inventory, provisioning, configuration, maintenance, and lifecycle of engineering assets, including patient monitors and laboratory equipment.
• Support firmware installation, software deployment, operating system configuration, and engineering environment setup to ensure development and verification readiness.
• Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot wired and wireless network infrastructure supporting engineering laboratories and embedded development environments.
• Set up, administer, and maintain virtualization platforms such as VMware, Hyper-V, ESXi, Nutanix, or KVM to support scalable development and verification environments.
• Diagnose and resolve infrastructure, hardware, software, networking, and system-related issues while collaborating with Software, Firmware, Systems Engineering, Automation, DevOps, and Quality teams to ensure minimal disruption to engineering activities.
• Collaborate with global engineering teams to ensure infrastructure, laboratory systems, and development environments remain available, secure, and optimized to support product development, verification, and automation activities.
• Develop, maintain, and continuously improve infrastructure documentation, engineering processes, standard operating procedures, and asset records to improve robustness, repeatability, operational efficiency, and knowledge sharing.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance infrastructure reliability, laboratory readiness, engineering productivity, and operational excellence.

How we work together
We believe that we are better together than apart. For our office-based teams, this means working in-person at least 3 days per week. Onsite roles require full-time presence in the company’s facilities. Field roles are most effectively done outside of the company’s main facilities, generally at the customers’ or suppliers’ locations.
