HUM Oriental Systems Private Limited is seeking an experienced Network Systems Engineer to oversee the integration, deployment, and maintenance of wireless IoT devices on Indian cellular networks. The role requires frequent travel across India to customer sites and hands-on field work.

With 10+ years in network systems engineering or related IoT deployments, you will troubleshoot, install, and support devices on freight wagons, coordinating with carriers and customers while delivering training

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in network systems engineering, telecommunications, IoT deployments, or a closely related field.
• Strong working knowledge of cellular network technologies (2G/4G/LTE) on Indian carrier networks.
• Willingness to travel regularly to customer and field sites across India.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; Hindi proficiency desirable.
• Hands-on hardware and firmware troubleshooting skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the integration and maintenance of IoT devices operating on Indian cellular networks, including connectivity provisioning, network performance monitoring, and carrier coordination.
• Troubleshoot operational issues for wireless IoT devices deployed on freight wagons, spanning connectivity, power, firmware, and hardware faults both remotely and in the field.
• Provide onsite customer support during device installation, commissioning, and acceptance testing.
• Deliver installation and operations training to customer personnel and field teams.
• Diagnose and resolve device-level issues through firmware analysis and hardware troubleshooting.
• Document recurring field issues and work with engineering teams to drive root-cause resolution and product improvements.
• Support deployment planning, site surveys, and rollout coordination across customer locations.

About the Role

Hum Oriental Systems (Joint venture between Oriental Foundry Pvt Ltd and HUM Industrial Technology, inc) is seeking an experienced Network Systems Engineer to oversee the integration, deployment, and ongoing maintenance of wireless IoT monitoring devices operating

on Indian cellular networks. These devices are installed on freight wagons to deliver real-time telematics and condition monitoring data to rail operators. This is a hands-on role combining network engineering, field troubleshooting, and direct customer engagement.

• Troubleshoot operational issues for wireless IoT devices deployed on freight wagons, spanning connectivity, power, firmware, and hardware faults both remotely and in the field

Required Qualifications

10+ years of overall experience in network systems engineering, telecommunications, IoT deployments, or a closely related field

• Strong working knowledge of cellular network technologies (2G/4G/LTE) as deployed on Indian carrier networks
• Competent firmware programming skills (e.g., embedded C/C++, device configuration, OTA update processes)
• Competent hardware troubleshooting skills, including diagnosing power, antenna, sensor, and connectivity faults on embedded devices
• Demonstrated experience providing onsite technical support and customer-facing training
• Willingness to travel regularly to customer and field sites across India
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; Hindi proficiency desirable

Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity with Indian rail operations (freight wagon operations, RDSO standards, rolling stock maintenance practices)

• Familiarity with Indian telecom operations, carrier relationships, and SIM/connectivity management
• Intermediate or higher proficiency in both firmware programming and hardware troubleshooting
• Experience with ruggedized or industrial IoT hardware in harsh outdoor environments
• Experience with accelerometer, GPS, or other sensor-based monitoring systems
