Job summary

Avaloq is seeking experienced site reliability engineers to own Oracle database platforms end-to-end, driving performance, automation and reliability at scale as part of cloud transformation. You will contribute to platform engineering initiatives and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, scalable banking tech solutions.

The role requires 5–12+ years of Oracle DB experience, strong RMAN, RAC/Data Guard knowledge, and expertise in Linux, scripting, and IaC tools like

Qualifications

• 5–12+ years of Oracle database administration experience.
• Proficient RMAN backup and recovery capabilities.
• Experience with RAC and Data Guard architectures.

Responsibilities

• Own Oracle database environments across Dev/Test/Prod with end-to-end accountability for availability and performance.
• Lead installations, upgrades, patching and lifecycle management.
• Drive proactive performance tuning and optimization strategies.
• Define robust backup/recovery strategies (RMAN).
• Design and manage high-availability architectures (RAC, Data Guard).

Job Description

Role Summary

Owns Oracle database platforms end-to-end, driving performance, automation, and reliability at scale while contributing to cloud transformation and platform engineering initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Own Oracle database environments across lifecycle (Dev/Test/Prod) with end-to-end accountability for availability and performance
• Lead database installation, upgrades, patching, and lifecycle management
• Drive proactive performance tuning and optimization strategies
• Define and implement robust backup and recovery strategies (RMAN)
• Design and manage high-availability architectures (RAC, Data Guard)
• Lead troubleshooting of complex incidents, perform root cause analysis (RCA), and drive long-term fixes
• Drive automation-first approach using Shell, PL/SQL, Ansible, Terraform
• Collaborate with cloud, platform, and application teams for integrated delivery
• Ensure compliance with operational governance (patching, change, security standards)
• Mentor junior DBAs (G4) and uplift overall team capability

Required Skills

• Strong hands-on experience with Oracle Database (19c/21c)
• Advanced SQL and PL/SQL expertise
• Deep expertise in RMAN backup/recovery
• Strong experience with Oracle RAC and Data Guard
• Advanced performance tuning and query optimization
• Strong Linux/Unix system administration
• Strong scripting and automation capabilities

Preferred Skills

• Hands-on experience in OCI / AWS cloud database environments
• Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (Ansible, Terraform)
• Exposure to Avaloq platform and banking domain systems
• Familiarity with observability/monitoring solutions

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field

• Advanced SQL and PL/SQL skills
• Deep experience with RMAN backup and recovery
