Overview
Airbus designs, manufactures, and delivers aerospace products, services, and solutions for customers worldwide. It is a major global player in the aviation industry with a focus on advanced commercial aircraft and technologies that connect people and places through air and space.
Role
The Maintenance Team at Airbus India focuses on future aircraft maintenance systems, defining BITE specifications, delivering customization modifications, and improving system maturity. The team works on system engineering areas such as requirements engineering, configuration management, verification and validation, and exposure to wireless protocols, aerospace standards, and model-based systems engineering. The team supports legacy commercial aircraft and contributes to Airbus Skywise, a data analytics platform used to analyze maintenance data through dashboards and applications using Big Data technologies along with Java and Python. It is part of the Advanced Engineering and System Studies department, which provides simulation capabilities for aircraft systems and industrial needs using systems engineering and certification expertise.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop deep understanding of the BITE concept and its implementation across aircraft systems.
- Learn and analyze different aircraft systems and the interfaces between them, including communication protocols.
- Collaborate with design offices, suppliers, and other stakeholders involved in system design.
- Understand aircraft maintenance operations and consider maintenance operator perspectives.
- Address in-service queries from airlines related to failures and troubleshooting.
- Identify collaboration opportunities with the Skywise platform and other design teams working on aircraft maintenance topics.
- Provide technical support to system engineers and suppliers for correct BITE implementation.
- Review system design documents and laboratory test specifications.
- Support review of BITE-related aspects in lab test reports and problem reports.
- Validate modifications to BITE functions in existing systems and follow configuration management practices.
- Manage fault-related maintenance data within internal repository tools.
Required Experience and Skills
- B.E., B.Tech., M.E., or M.Tech. in Aerospace, Electronics and Communication, Mechanical, or a related engineering field.
- Understanding of at least one aircraft system. Experience in aircraft system development, particularly onboard maintenance systems, is advantageous.
- Knowledge of communication protocols such as ARINC 429, MIL, AFDX, Ethernet, and CAN.
- Familiarity with SAE ARP 4754 and ARP 4761 standards.
- Hands-on exposure to at least one scripting language, preferably Python or Java, is beneficial.
- Understanding of end-to-end product development workflows in system or system-of-systems environments.
- Familiarity with Agile or SAFe development processes.
Nice to Have
- Interest in data science and data analytics.
- Knowledge of Google Workspace tools.
- Experience with Jira.
- INCOSE certification in Systems Engineering.
- Proficiency in additional languages such as French, German, or regional languages.
