Systems Engineer
About Driif

Driif is building a mission autonomy and command-and-control platform that connects and orchestrates autonomous vehicles across air, land, and sea.

We are looking for a hands‑on Systems Engineer with experience in UAV integration, communication networks, ground stations, and drone piloting. The engineer will connect UAVs, USVs, and UGVs to Driif’s platform and take ownership of equipment preparation, troubleshooting, demonstrations, and field trials across India.

Key Responsibilities
  • Integrate autopilots, onboard computers, radios, cameras, and sensors with ground stations and Driif’s platform.
  • Configure telemetry, mission-command, and video connections between vehicles and ground systems.
  • Work with PX4, ArduPilot, MAVLink, QGroundControl, Mission Planner, or similar technologies.
  • Configure vehicle parameters, operating modes, telemetry routing, and communication failsafes.
  • Diagnose hardware, wiring, power, software, and interface issues.
  • Support integration across aerial, ground, and maritime platforms.
Networking and Communications
  • Configure IP addresses, subnets, routing, Ethernet connections, routers, and switches.
  • Set up point‑to‑point and mesh radio links for control, telemetry, and video.
  • Work with TCP/UDP, serial communication, and serial‑to‑Ethernet interfaces.
  • Troubleshoot packet loss, latency, bandwidth limitations, and intermittent connectivity.
  • Assess antenna placement, interference, and communication performance during trials.
  • Maintain network diagrams and repeatable equipment configurations.
Drone Piloting and Field Trials
  • Pilot drones during approved tests, customer demonstrations, and field trials.
  • Conduct pre‑flight checks, mission preparation, equipment inspections, and post‑flight reviews.
  • Validate vehicle‑to‑ground‑station connectivity, telemetry continuity, video quality, and failsafe behaviour.
  • Travel frequently across India, including remote locations, and support extended field assignments.
  • Coordinate trial activities with customers, vendors, and engineering teams.
  • Capture flight logs, network traces, observations, and trial results.
  • Follow applicable permissions, operating procedures, and site safety requirements.
Deployment and Customer Support
  • Prepare and deploy ground‑station computers, networking equipment, and supporting software.
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot applications on Linux and Windows.
  • Train operators on equipment set‑up, system operation, and basic troubleshooting.
  • Maintain equipment inventories, checklists, integration guides, and field reports.
  • Communicate field issues clearly and work with engineering teams through resolution.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Hands‑on experience in UAV systems engineering, integration, flight testing, or technical field operations.
  • Practical drone‑piloting experience, including manual control, autonomous missions, and emergency procedures.
  • Strong working knowledge of IP networking, Ethernet, TCP/UDP, subnetting, and routing.
  • Experience configuring telemetry radios and vehicle‑to‑ground‑station communication links.
  • Familiarity with autopilots, flight controllers, MAVLink, and ground control software.
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical connections, serial interfaces, power supplies, and onboard equipment.
  • Working knowledge of Linux and Windows, with familiarity with network diagnostic tools.
  • Ability to prepare technical documentation and train operators.
  • Willingness to travel extensively across India for demonstrations, deployments, and field trials.
  • Degree or diploma in Aerospace, Electronics, Telecommunications, Mechatronics, Computer Science, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
Preferred Skills
  • Relevant remote pilot certification and documented flight experience.
  • Experience with USV or UGV integration and operations.
  • Familiarity with Doodle Labs, Silvus, Persistent Systems, or similar communication radios.
  • Understanding of RF fundamentals, antennas, interference, and link budgets.
  • Experience with EO/IR cameras, IP video, GNSS, and IMU integration.
  • Basic Python or Bash scripting for diagnostics and automation.
  • Experience supporting defence, aerospace, maritime, or industrial customers.
  • Experience conducting customer demonstrations and operator training.
Ideal Candidate

You combine practical UAV engineering with drone‑piloting and networking skills. You can prepare equipment, establish reliable connections, troubleshoot problems in the field, and explain system operation to customers. You are comfortable taking responsibility for trial readiness and working at locations across India.
