We are seeking a highly skilled and analytical System Automation Engineer to design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks for complex hardwarefirmware systems within Connected Devices division. The role focuses on Python-based automation, validating system-level behavior across hardware, embedded firmware, software, and backend components, enabling fast and reliable End-to-End (E2E) system-level testing.
The candidate will work closely with hardware, firmware, system, and cloud engineers to build robust automation running on real devices, physical lab setups.
Role & responsibilities
- Automation Framework Development: Design, build, and maintain robust automated system test frameworks, utilities, and infrastructure using Python for HWFW platforms.
- System-Level Validation: Validate system behavior across multidisciplinary domains combining hardware, embedded firmware, software, and backend/cloud components.
- Debugging & Log Analysis: Execute E2E automated tests, analyze complex test results, logs, and system failures, providing clear and actionable debug insights.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner directly with FW, HW, and cloud engineering teams to reproduce issues, troubleshoot root causes, and verify fixes on real physical devices.
- Optimization & Coverage: Continuously improve test coverage, test stability, and execution speed in lab setups and CI environments.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation for automated tests, lab setups, test architecture, and custom scripts/utilities.
Preferred candidate profile
Must-Have Qualifications
- Education: B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline (or higher).
- Experience: Minimum 6 years of hands-on experience in multidisciplinary (HW, FW, SW) system automation.
- Python Proficiency: Strong Python development skills including object-oriented programming (OOP), scripting, and building automation frameworks from scratch. Candidates must be able to write clean code and complete a Python home assignment.
- AI Tools Integration: Demonstrated experience with or active adoption of AI tools/LLMs to accelerate code writing and automation framework tasks.
- Fundamental Hardware & Communication Knowledge: Solid understanding of basic hardware concepts, low-level interfaces, and communication protocols (serial, wireless/RF).
- Operating Systems & Version Control: Hands-on proficiency in Linux environments and Git version control.
- Cloud & Embedded Systems: Familiarity with cloud computing integration and embedded system architectures.
- Protocol Testing & Lab Equipment: Proficiency in protocol testing and failure debugging using standard lab test equipment.
- Communication Skills: Excellent, clear verbal and written English communication skills (critical requirement for client interactions and technical discussions).
- Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Strong logical reasoning, ability to investigate root causes, ask critical questions, and clearly explain solution approaches.
- Adaptability & Fast Learning: Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new technical concepts, protocols, and terms in a fast-paced environment.
Good-to-Have (Advantage)
- Experience with complex IoT systems including RF communication protocols and physical HW interfaces.
- Broader system integration experience spanning hardware, embedded firmware, cloud, and software domains.
