Job summary

Vayavya Labs Pvt. Ltd seeks a hands-on architect to design and build a modular automation framework for embedded products, covering CLI/UI/Serial and protocol-level testing across Linux, RTOS, and Android targets.

You"ll build automated test benches, enable unattended flash/provision/recovery, and drive CI/CD pipelines with robust dashboards, reducing flakiness and enabling credible release campaigns.

This is a hands-on architecture and leadership role, not test-execution management.

Job Description:

• Architect a modular automation framework covering embedded products, CLI/UI/Console and Protocol-level testing, with a hardware abstraction layer so one suite runs across Linux, RTOS, and Android targets.
• Build and own automated test benches: relay/GPIO key injection, switchable USB power, programmable PSUs, video capture, remote reset, and unattended flash, provision and bare-metal recovery.
• Automate display validation (frame capture, golden-reference comparison, OCR, frame-drop, and A/V sync checks) and input injection (matrix keys, touch, long-press, and debounce timing).
• Integrate everything into CI (Jenkins/GitLab) as pipeline-as-code — commit gates, nightly regression, release campaigns – with result reporting and dashboards leadership can act on.
• Drive flakiness down as a measured number , fixing the framework or the bench rather than adding retries.
• Set automation strategy and coverage roadmap, maintain requirements traceability, and triage failures credibly to product, test or bench.
• Mentor the automation team and partner closely with firmware, hardware, and systems engineering.

Technical Skills (must have):

• Python at framework-design level — OOP, abstraction and interface design, pytest (fixtures, parametrization, plugins), packaging; strong bash with sed / awk ; able to understand C/C++; Git discipline.
• Proven experience building or substantially re-architecting an embedded automation framework — the core requirement of this role.
• Serial/console automation: UART fundamentals (baud, framing, flow control), pyserial , pexpect , robust log parsing, U-Boot interaction; CLI automation over SSH, Telnet, and ADB.
• Display and input automation: image comparison (pixel diff, SSIM, perceptual hashing), OpenCV, OCR, golden-image management; GPIO/relay key injection, evdev / uinput , shell input
• OS coverage: Embedded Linux ( systemd , dmesg , /proc , /sys , Yocto or Buildroot); at least one RTOS (FreeRTOS, Zephyr, QNX, ThreadX, AUTOSAR) including testing targets with no shell via serial command interface, JTAG or RTT; Android/AOSP (ADB, logcat , instrumentation).
• Hardware and bench: UART, I²C, SPI, USB, GPIO, Ethernet/TCP-IP plus one of CAN/LIN, BLE or Wi-Fi; reads schematics and datasheets; instrument automation (SCPI power supplies, scopes/logic analysers, OpenOCD or J-Link).
• CI/CD: Jenkins or GitLab CI with hardware-attached runners, Docker, JUnit/Allure reporting; sound test design fundamentals.

Good to Have:

• Robot Framework, Squish for Qt/QML HMI; pytest-embedded , GoogleTest/Unity with gcov .
• Automotive (CANoe/CAPL, Android Automotive, ISO 26262) or regulated domains (IEC 62304, DO-178C); DOORS, Polarion, Xray. Boot-time, power, and thermal KPIs; graphics stacks (LVGL, Qt/QML, Kanzi); fuzzing and fault injection; Grafana test dashboards; Groovy, Go, or Rust.
