Job summary

ADB Safegate in Hyderabad, India seeks an experienced Automation Engineer to design and maintain automation frameworks for embedded systems and IoT devices, ensuring scalable testbeds and reliable validation across multi-site deployments.

You will build Python-based automation, orchestrate device labs, and collaborate with global teams to improve test coverage and system reliability in safety-critical environments.

Qualifications

• 6-8 years of experience in automation engineering, device validation, and IoT protocol testing.

Responsibilities

• Design, set up, and maintain physical device labs for automated testing of embedded systems, IoT gateways, and edge devices.
• Develop and enhance Python-based automation frameworks to orchestrate multi-device test beds, simulate high-volume data streams, and capture device telemetry.
• Execute end-to-end validation of industrial IoT solutions, including HVAC systems, building management systems, and smart infrastructure across global deployments.
• Integrate and test IoT protocols such as MQTT, BACnet, Modbus, and WiFi Direct, ensuring comprehensive command-response and data integrity checks.
• Implement automated test suites for protocol, UI, and system-level validation using tools like PyTest, Mobly etc.
• Build robust telemetry pipelines to collect, correlate, and analyze system logs, screenshots, and video buffers for rapid root-cause analysis.
• Orchestrate CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI) for parallel execution of automated tests across distributed device farms.
• Program robotic arm automation for endurance and deployment testing of foldable and mechanical devices.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) scenarios, identify defects, and optimize system reliability.
• Maintain code quality, test coverage, and documentation for all automation frameworks and testbeds.
• Support integration testing and validation in high-reliability, safety-critical environments (e.g., oil rigs, smart buildings).

Key Responsibilities

Technical Skills & Experience

• 6-8 years of experience in automation engineering, device validation, and IoT protocol testing.
• Strong hands-on knowledge of Python automation frameworks (PyTest), multi-device orchestration, and testbed setup.
• Analytical and detail-oriented approach, with the ability to develop robust tests, analyze results, and identify issues or trends in test data.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Azure cloud platforms and services for integrating, storing, and analyzing test data.
• Effective communication skills, with the ability to clearly document automation solutions and collaborate with multidisciplinary and international teams.
• Proactive problem-solving skills and initiative in identifying automation opportunities and addressing technical challenges independently.

Preferred Qualifications

• B.E./B.Tech graduate degree in CS, Electronics etc.
• Experience with large-scale physical lab management and distributed device testing.
• Knowledge of industrial automation tools and diagnostic protocols.
• Exposure to smart building, industrial IoT, or connected device ecosystems.
• Awards or recognition for test automation and quality engineering excellence.
