Job summary

Sri Mateshwari Construction is seeking a Surveyor / Survey Engineer to perform precise surveying and setting-out for large-scale infrastructure projects. You will ensure alignment, levels, and positioning as per design drawings, with emphasis on hydraulics and terrain-sensitive environments.

The role requires proficiency in Total Station, DGPS, AutoCAD and Civil 3D, plus field survey experience on canals and bridges.

Qualifications

• Diploma or B.Tech / BE in Civil Engineering is required.
• Minimum 5+ years of experience in canal, bridge, dam, or road projects preferred.
• Proficiency in survey software and office tools.

Responsibilities

• Carry out precise surveying and setting-out for canals, bridges, dams, and weirs.
• Establish benchmarks and control points; verify alignment and elevations per drawings.
• Prepare and monitor as-built surveys and progress checks throughout construction.
• Calculate earthwork quantities and assist MB preparation.
• Coordinate with site engineers, design teams and contractors.
• Operate Total Station, DGPS, Auto Level, Drone if applicable.
• Ensure safety and documentation for audits.

Role & responsibilities :-

The Surveyor / Survey Engineer is responsible for carrying out precise surveying and setting-out activities for large-scale infrastructure projects such as canals, bridges, weirs, and dams. The role ensures alignment, levels, and positioning of structures in accordance with design drawings and technical specifications, especially in water-related and terrain-sensitive environments.

Preferred candidate profile :-

1. Pre-Construction Survey

• Conduct topographic, contour, and route surveys for canals and access roads
• Carry out hydrographic or river cross-section surveys for bridge, dam, and weir locations
• Establish permanent benchmarks (BM) and control points

2. Setting Out & Layout

• Set out alignment for canals (centerline, slopes, embankments)
• Mark layout for bridge foundations, piers, abutments, and deck levels
• Set out dam axis, spillway alignment, and weir crest levels
• Ensure correct positioning of structures as per approved drawings

3. Leveling & Alignment Control

• Maintain accurate Reduced Levels (RLs) for excavation, filling, and structure works
• Check gradients and slopes for canal flow
• Ensure vertical and horizontal alignment for bridges and hydraulic structures

4. Quantity Measurement & Earthwork

• Calculate earthwork quantities (cut & fill) for canals and embankments
• Measure excavation volumes for foundations of bridges and dams
• Assist in preparation of measurement books (MB)

5. Monitoring & As-Built Surveys

• Conduct periodic surveys to track construction progress
• Perform as-built surveys for final project documentation
• Identify and report deviations from design

6. Instrumentation & Technology

• Operate Total Station, DGPS, Auto Level, Drone (if applicable)
• Use software like AutoCAD, Civil 3D for plotting and data processing
• Ensure calibration and proper maintenance of survey instruments

7. Coordination

• Work closely with site engineers, design team, and project managers
• Coordinate with contractors and subcontractors for execution
• Provide survey inputs for planning and decision-making

8. Quality & Safety Compliance

• Ensure survey accuracy as per project tolerance limits
• Follow safety practices, especially near water bodies and heavy equipment
• Maintain proper documentation for audits and inspections

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Diploma / B.Tech / BE in Civil Engineering
• 510+ years of experience in infrastructure projects (canal, dam, bridge preferred)
• Strong knowledge of leveling, traversing, and contouring
• Experience with hydraulic structure layouts
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Excel, and survey software
