Job summary

Jobtailor seeks a senior Supplier Quality professional in India to lead supplier assessment, audits, and development across Forgings, Gears, and machining operations. You will drive conformity to ISO 9001, IATF 16949, and VDA 6.3, guiding APQP/PPAP processes and cross-functional collaboration with ZF plants globally.

The role demands eight or more years in related manufacturing sectors, with strong problem-solving skills (8D, Ishikawa) and project management excellence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical/Metallurgical Engineering.
• 8+ years of experience in Forgings, Forming, Heat Treatment, Hobbing, Shaping, grinding operations and related supplier/quality roles.
• Strong knowledge of ISO 9001, IATF 16949, and VDA 6.3 Process Audits.

Responsibilities

• Conduct supplier assessment and process audits per ZF guidelines for Forgings, Gears and Machining suppliers in India.
• Support supplier management ensuring fulfilment of ZF deliverables related to product quality in preventive and reactive phases.
• Ensure supplier compliance with ZF specifications using APQP and PPAP methodologies in new sourcing projects.
• Lead cross-functional coordination between Indian suppliers and internal ZF plants across global locations.
• Oversee supplier selection, technical feasibility and development of Forgings, Gears, machined parts to meet milestones.
• Support establishment of a reliable and efficient supply chain for development and serial production.

Responsibilities

• Conduct supplier assessment and process audits in accordance with ZF guidelines for Forgings, Gears and Machining suppliers in India.
• Support supplier management activities by ensuring fulfilment of all ZF‑specified deliverables related to product quality in both preventive and reactive phases, with end‑to‑end accountability.
• Ensure supplier compliance with ZF specifications and standards by effectively applying APQP and PPAP methodologies in new and competitive sourcing projects.
• Lead and support cross‑functional coordination between Indian suppliers and internal teams ZF plants across global locations.
• Take responsibility for the Supplier selection, technical feasibility and development of Forgings, Gears, machined parts through systematic project management to meet quality and project milestones.
• Support the establishment of a reliable and efficient supply chain for both in development and serial production.

Requirements

• Strong knowledge of key quality standards: ISO 9001, IATF 16949, and VDA 6.3 Process Audits.
• Good understanding of AIAG/VDA APQP, PPAP, and project management methodologies.
• Familiarity with AIAG/VDA FMEA, failure simulation, and problem‑solving tools such as 8D, Ishikawa, etc.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical/Metallurgical Engineering.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in the areas of Forgings, Forming, Heat Treatment, Hobbing, Shaping, grinding operations/ Product Development/ Supplier Quality/Customer Quality/Machining processes etc.
• Additional knowledge in CQI-9 Heat Treatment Special process audits, measurement skills will be an added advantage.
