Position Overview
The Senior Engineer SQA will be responsible for ensuring the quality of materials, components, and services received from suppliers. The role involves supplier development, supplier audits, incoming quality improvement, new supplier qualification, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and continuous improvement.
The candidate will work closely with SCM, Purchase, Production, Design, Quality, and suppliers to ensure consistent quality, timely delivery, and compliance with technical requirements.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage supplier quality for raw materials, bought-out components, machined components, forgings, castings, seals,fasteners, welding components, and other hydraulic components.
- Develop and qualify new suppliers based on quality, technical capability, capacity, and customer requirements.
- Conduct supplier audits and process capability assessments.
- Review supplier manufacturing processes and identify potential quality risks.
- Prepare and review supplier quality documents such as PPAP, APQP, Control Plans, PFMEA, MSA, SPC, and Inspection Standards, as applicable.
- Ensure supplier compliance with approved drawings, specifications, standards, and quality requirements.
- Monitor incoming inspection rejection, supplier PPM, repeat defects, and supplier performance.
- Analyze supplier quality issues using Root Cause Analysis, 5 Why, Fishbone, 8D, and CAPA methodologies.
- Drive timely corrective and preventive actions with suppliers and verify their effectiveness.
- Conduct supplier visits for quality improvement, process verification, and problem resolution.
- Support New Product Development (NPD) by coordinating supplier development and part qualification activities.
- Review supplier inspection reports, material test certificates, dimensional reports, and other quality documents.
- Coordinate inspection and testing of critical components and materials through internal and external laboratories where required.
- Establish and monitor quality standards for critical suppliers and components.
- Support supplier process improvement initiatives to reduce rejection, rework, and customer complaints.
- Monitor supplier quality KPIs and prepare periodic supplier performance reports.
- Identify critical and high-risk suppliers and develop appropriate improvement plans.
- Coordinate with Purchase and SCM teams for supplier quality-related issues affecting production and delivery.
- Support customer audits and respond to customer requirements related to supplier quality.
- Ensure effective implementation of engineering changes and drawing revisions at supplier locations.
- Maintain supplier quality records, audit reports, corrective action reports, and qualification documents.
- Conduct training and awareness programs for suppliers on quality requirements where required.
- Support continuous improvement activities such as Lean, Kaizen, Poka-Yoke, and defect prevention.
- Ensure compliance with applicable quality, safety, environmental, and statutory requirements.
Preferred candidate profile
Candidate Profile
Education
- BE / B.Tech / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Additional qualifications in Quality Management will be an added advantage.
- Certifications such as Internal Auditor, ISO 9001,14001,45001, Six Sigma, or related quality certifications will be preferred.
Experience
- 410 years of experience in Supplier Quality Assurance / Supplier Quality Engineering / Quality Engineering.
- Experience in hydraulic industry or relevant engineering manufacturing industries is preferred.
- Hands-on experience in supplier quality, incoming quality, supplier development, and problem-solving.
- Experience in manufacturing processes such as CNC machining, turning, grinding, forging, casting, welding, heat treatment, Plating, Honing,surface treatment, and assembly will be an advantage.
- Experience in dealing with OEM customers and engineering component suppliers will be preferred..
