Job summary

Openhouse is building a new-age learning ecosystem, bringing high-quality Science experiences closer to where children live. We are seeking a Science SME to help design and strengthen the Science curriculum, deliver 1:1 sessions, and build scalable teaching playbooks as we expand beyond centres into communities in Bangalore.

You will work with the Academics team to shape how Science is taught, mentor other teachers, and evolve into a potential Science Head Teacher role as we scale.

Qualifications

• 2–6 years of experience teaching Science to children aged 5–12.
• Strong conceptual understanding of school-level Science.
• Experience with curriculum design or experiential learning is a plus.

• Design and strengthen the Science curriculum, learning resources and pedagogy with the Acads LxD Lead.
• Deliver 1:1 Science sessions through the At Home programme and understand children at an individual level.
• Make Science come alive through experiments, questions, observation, stories and real-world connections.
• Understand what sparks curiosity, where children struggle and how they engage with different concepts.
• Bring classroom insights back to the curriculum team and continuously improve what we build.
• Help create the Science teaching playbook and mentor other Science teachers as we scale.

what you will do

Build how children discover Science at openhouse

We’re looking for a Science SME to join us at the start of this journey.

• Build: Work with our Acads LxD Lead to design and strengthen our Science curriculum, learning resources and pedagogy.
• Teach: Deliver 1:1 Science sessions through our At Home programme and understand children at an individual level.
• Explore: Make Science come alive through experiments, questions, observation, stories and real-world connections.
• Learn: Understand what sparks curiosity, where children struggle and how they engage with different concepts.
• Improve: Bring classroom insights back to the curriculum team and continuously improve what we build.
• Scale: Help create the Science teaching playbook and eventually mentor other Science teachers.

who we’re looking for

• 2–6 years of experience teaching Science to children aged 5–12.
• Strong conceptual understanding of school-level Science.
• A teacher who can make children question, explore and understand not just memorize.
• Strong classroom presence and ability to adapt to different learning levels.
• Curious, reflective and excited by the opportunity to build something from scratch.
• Experience with curriculum design, experiential learning or 1:1 teaching is a plus.

You’ll be among the first members of our Academics team, helping shape how Science is taught at Openhouse—from curriculum to classroom. For the right person, this role can evolve into Science Head Teacher / Subject Lead within a few months, with ownership of the Science category as we scale. Teach. Explore. Build. Lead.
