Job summary

HSBC in Bengaluru seeks an experienced Subject Matter Expert for Global Private Banking to process and verify a range of operations across regions, including payments, account servicing and settlements. You will acquire and update knowledge on procedures, ensuring accuracy and quality while driving service improvements.

You will support multiple regions, adapt to varying shifts, and maintain internal controls in line with policy and compliance requirements.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of experience in Investment Operations or Private Banking operations.
• Knowledge of Asset Servicing (Corporate Actions/Income processing) and Settlements is preferred.
• Understanding of Money Market, Derivatives, Funds Processing or Cash management is a plus.
• Good judgement and decision-making skills.
• Excellent English communication, written and spoken.

Responsibilities

• Independently process and check activities related to Banking, Payments, Account Opening/Servicing & Settlements across regions.
• Update knowledge on procedures for processes supported across multiple regions.
• Ensure compliance with procedures and improve customer service and efficiency.
• Identify issues and escalate where appropriate; support ad hoc reporting and projects.

Subject Matter Expert - Global Private Banking

In This Role, You Will

• Responsible to independently and accurately process / check accurately a range of activities timely related to Banking, Payments, Account Opening/Servicing, Settlements, Corporate Actions & Private Equity etc across multiple regions
• Required to acquire and update knowledge on procedures related to relevant process supported across multiple regions.
• Independently ensure that the process requirements are met, adhered to, completed in accordance with established procedures and standards set. Demonstrate ways to improve customer service/journey and increase productivity (efficiency & Quality).
• Proactively identify issues, if any in the services provided and timely de-late.
• Ensure that the process related procedures are implemented as per the process manuals.
• Apply judgement to resolving customer requests efficiently ensuring accuracy and professionalism.
• Meet targets on productivity and accuracy as per the targets and metrics defined for the process. Responsible to interpret Instructions/requests, understood and implement.
• Conduct research to resolve discrepancies to satisfaction of all parties and within established procedures and regulatory guidelines. Reply and attend to enquiries/feedback for internal/external clients.
• Comply with Policies and Procedures and established guidelines procedures. Represent the bank in a professional manner whilst following up with various stakeholders.
• Independently ensure all enquiries are handled appropriately within assigned authority levels and escalade other enquiries to appropriate parties. Assist with special or Ad hoc Reporting and Projects.

To Be Successful You Will

• Minimum of 2-3 years of prior Investment Operations or similar experience in Investment Banking or Private Banking operation (E)
• Working knowledge and awareness of Asset Servicing (Corporate Actions/Income processing) and/or any other Securities Ops function like Settlements (E)
• Knowledge or experience in fields like Money Market trade operations, Derivatives, Funds Processing, Cash management & Payments will be an added advantage (D)
• Good judgement and decision-making skill (E)
• Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal (E)
• Considerable flexibility in working varying shifts to support UK/US/APAC business hours, when necessary, which will normally be from around 12:30pm – 21:30pm IST (UK business hours) or 5:30 PM and 2:30 AM IST (US Business hours) DST applicable. Asia Pacific Business hours 6:30am - 3:30pm IST.
• Maintains HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.
• Is aware of the Operational Risk scenario associated with the role and acts in a manner that takes account of operational risk considerations.
• Understands, follows, and demonstrates compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business in which the jobholder is involved, specifically Internal Controls and any Compliance policy including, inter alia, the Group Compliance policy.
