Job summary

Malhotra Book Depot is seeking a SME in Chemistry & Physics to review, proofread, and rewrite manuscripts, and to create content for books, workbooks, and question papers.

You will provide input to authors, ensure accuracy, and maintain publication style while coordinating with graphics, DTP and production teams. A minimum of 2 years in publishing or teaching and strong English skills are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree required.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in publishing or teaching.
• Excellent knowledge of English grammar.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Proficiency in written and spoken English.
• Ability to communicate effectively with internal stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Review, proofread and rewrite manuscripts provided by authors.
• Create content for books, refreshers, workbooks, question papers, etc. according to instructions.
• Provide inputs to authors to improve manuscripts.
• Review content for accuracy in spelling, grammar usage and punctuation.
• Edit to ensure consistency in English (UK/US).
• Maintain publication style using approved style guidelines.
• Coordinate with graphics, DTP and production to finalize the product.
• Write blurbs and front matter and back matter of the titles.
• Research and authenticate facts, dates and statistics.
• Assess and approve cover designs.
• Evaluate manuscript content and review each component of the original MS before starting a project.
• Create storyboards for animation projects; review and finalize animation videos.
