Role Summary
The Structural Engineer is responsible for the design, analysis, and evaluation of structural components, systems, and frameworks for buildings, ships, offshore platforms, or industrial facilities. This role ensures that structures are safe, reliable, efficient, and compliant with relevant codes, standards, and project specifications. Structural Engineer works closely with multidisciplinary teams, including mechanical, civil, naval architecture, and project management teams, to deliver optimized, constructible, and cost-effective structural solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform structural design and analysis of steel, concrete, or composite structures using relevant software (STAAD Pro, Tekla Structures, ANSYS, SAP2000, etc.).
- Prepare detailed engineering drawings, structural calculations, and design reports for review and approval.
- Ensure compliance with international and local codes (AISC, Eurocode, ASCE, API, DNV, ABS, ISO, etc.).
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams for interface coordination, design reviews, and technical clarifications.
- Provide technical support during procurement, fabrication, and construction stages.
- Review and evaluate vendor/fabricator drawings and technical submittals.
- Conduct structural inspections, assessments, and audits to verify design and workmanship quality.
- Assist in resolving technical queries (TQs) and requests for information (RFIs) from construction teams.
- Maintain accurate records of design calculations, drawings, and revision of histories.
- Support project managers with schedules, progress reporting, and risk assessments related to structural engineering.
Education & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering, Structural Engineering, or related field.
- Professional certification (PE, CEng, or equivalent) preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in structural engineering design and analysis within EPC, shipbuilding, oil & gas, or construction projects.
- Proficiency in structural design and analysis software and MS Office tools.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of structural mechanics, load analysis, and materials engineering.
- Proficiency in structural analysis and design software (STAAD Pro, Tekla, ETABS, ANSYS, SAP2000).
- Ability to interpret architectural and engineering drawings accurately.
- Understanding of fabrication, construction methods, and site erection procedures.
- Familiarity with relevant design codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities
- Concept / FEED Phase: Perform preliminary structural analysis, load calculations, and concept design.
- Detailed Design Phase: Prepare detailed structural drawings, calculations, and reports.
- Procurement & Fabrication: Review vendor drawings, provide technical clarifications, and ensure design compliance.
- Construction / Erection: Support site inspection, address technical queries, and ensure adherence to design specifications.
- Commissioning / Closeout: Verify as‑built structures, finalize documentation, and assist in project handover.
