Job summary

Burns & McDonnell India invites applications from skilled structural engineers for the Mumbai office. The role centers on planning, coordinating, and delivering engineering solutions for power-generation facilities with a focus on structural design and foundations.

Ideal candidates have 2–9 years of related experience, proficiency in major design software, and strong communication and analytical abilities. The work setup includes collaboration with Mumbai and U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil/structural engineering from an accredited program.
• 2–9 years of related experience.
• Software proficiency includes RISA-3D, RISA Foundation, Ram Connection, STAAD.Pro, Navisworks and/or Smart Plant Review.
• Excellent written & verbal communication, as well as strong analytical & problem-solving skills.
• Must be capable of devising new approaches to problems encountered.
• Previous consulting engineering experience in power industry is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate engineering work independently.
• Evaluate, select, adapt, and modify standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.
• Perform conventional engineering work involving various complex features.
• Apply knowledge of engineering principles in specialty and related areas.
• Coordinate departmental and divisional project studies and report preparation.
• Coordinate with equipment suppliers/vendors, project managers, and other engineering disciplines.
• Work with modelers, designers, and detailers in the Mumbai office and various U.S. offices.
• Perform routine and complex calculations and designs using computer-aided and manual design techniques.
• Design equipment foundations.
• Perform structural steel design for pipe racks and other power plant structures.
• Coordinate project design assignments and design teams.
• Interpret complex engineering problems and develop appropriate solutions.

The Power Division focuses on power generating facilities which offer a wide range of design and project execution experiences.
