AtkinsRéalis in Bengaluru seeks a Senior Structural Engineer to lead design across concept to detail stages for building structures, coordinating with architectural and MEP teams, and ensuring code compliance and constructibility for the Canada region.

You will mentor graduates and technicians, manage project tasks, uphold QA/QC procedures, stay current with new technologies, and contribute to business strategy through technical development.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Structural Engineering; Bachelor's considered if experience is strong.
• 7+ years in design office.
• Experience in concrete and steel design.
• Knowledge of ACI, AISC, Eurocodes preferred.
• Experience with structural design software (STAAD/ETABS/SAFE).
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
• Chartered or near-chartered with ICE or IStructE preferred.
• Experience leading small technical teams.

Job description

Overview

Senior Structural Engineer in the Building Structures Practice of Global Technology Center, primarily for the Canada region. The engineer will assist with the development, coordination, and quality assurance of structural designs across concept, preliminary, and detailed design stages, ensuring compliance with building codes, standards, and project‑specific requirements while working closely with colleagues in Canada.

The role involves close coordination with architectural, MEP and other relevant teams, participation in design review and assurance processes, and contribution to the delivery of safe, durable, constructible, and technically sound building structures across a variety of building types and project environments.

Your role

• Perform tasks assigned independently with minimum guidance from seniors in the discipline.
• Develop detailed designs from schematic designs under the guidance of senior engineers.
• Develop details/sketches and provide details to CAD technicians.
• Ensure effective communication and coordination on assigned tasks within the discipline.
• Manage one's own time and the time of others reporting to them.
• Maintain compliance with company QA/QC procedures and implement improved procedures.
• Keep abreast of latest trends and technologies.
• Check the work of graduates, technicians, and administrative staff.
• Be conversant with financial systems.
• Develop relationships with colleagues outside of the business area.
• Identify and follow through on leads and suggestions associated with additional work prospects on the projects being involved with.
• Apply Safe by Design principles and CDM legislations to projects.
• Contribute to and research the development of existing and new areas of technology/capabilities to inform business strategy.
• Understand management processes related to technical integration and associated analytical and investigative approaches.

About You

• Master's degree in Structural Engineering. Bachelor’s degree will also be considered if the candidate is competent and able to demonstrate relevant experience.
• 7+ years working in design office.
• Competent in first principles, structural analysis (BMD, SFD & deflections), and load paths.
• Competent in design of concrete and steel structures.
• Working knowledge of international standards such as ACI, AISC, Eurocodes is preferred.
• Experienced in providing analytical solutions using structural design software (e.g., STAAD, ETABS, SAFE).
• Good communication and presentation skills. Able to present design options to project leads and other stakeholders.
• Ability to make decisions and act on own initiative.
• Chartered or near‑chartered with institutions like ICE or IStructE is preferred, but not essential.
• Experience working with, and managing, small focused technical teams is an added advantage.
