Job summary

Indus Towers is seeking a Structural Design Engineer to analyze, design and strengthen telecom towers, poles, and building structures using IS codes. The role includes feasibility assessments, retrofitting solutions, and BOQ preparation.

You will work with STAAD Pro, AutoCAD and other design tools to ensure accurate calculations and documentation, supporting site assessments and project delivery in India.

Qualifications

• Degree in civil/structural engineering with exposure to telecom structures.
• Proficiency in Indian design codes (IS codes) and structural analysis.
• Experience with telecom towers/poles is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform analysis and design for telecom towers and poles per IS codes.
• Evaluate loading, stability, and retrofitting options for structures.
• Prepare BOQ, design reports, and calculations.
• Develop strengthening solutions based on site data.

Role Overview

The Structural Design Engineer will be responsible for analysis, design, and strengthening of telecom towers, poles, and building structures using relevant design software and Indian codes. The role includes feasibility assessment, retrofitting solutions, and BOQ preparation.

Key Responsibilities

1. Structural Analysis & Design

• Perform analysis of telecom towers using STAAD Pro and other structural design software.
• Conduct design and analysis of poles including load calculations and stability checks.
• Evaluate structural elements under various loading conditions as per Indian codal provisions. (wind, seismic, dead, live loads).

2. TLVA/RR Processing & Strengthening

• Handle TLVA/RR processing for existing structures
• Develop proposed strengthening solutions based on site requirements and analysis results.
• Recommend appropriate strengthening techniques as per approved guidelines.

3. Structural Assessment

• Perform feasibility assessments for buildings/structures for telecom structures.
• Evaluate for all:
  • RCC framed structures
  • Load-bearing structures
  • Partially framed structures
• Identify deficiencies and suggest corrective measures.

4. Foundation Engineering

• Design new foundations for towers/GBM/COW/Poles
• Provide foundation strengthening solutions based on soil and load conditions for Ground/Roof top structures.

5. Design Standards & Materials

• Ensure all designs adhere to relevant Indian Standards (IS Codes).
• Select appropriate grade of steel and structural hardware as per design requirements.
• Provide supporting calculations and documentation.

6. BOQ & Documentation

• Prepare Bill of Quantities (BOQ) for structural and strengthening works.
• Maintain proper design reports, drawings, and calculation sheets.

7. Software & Tools

• Use and apply:
  • STAAD Pro
  • AutoCAD
  • MS Office (Excel, Word)
  • Other structural design software compliant with Indian codes

Required Skills & Competencies

• Strong understanding of structural analysis and design principles
• Knowledge of Indian design codes (IS codes)
• Experience in telecom tower/pole design and retrofitting (preferred)
• Proficiency in STAAD Pro and AutoCAD
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and reports
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
