Job summary

Isgec Heavy Engineering in India seeks a senior structural engineer to lead the design and analysis of skid-mounted and modular systems, coordinating with customers and suppliers to ensure compliance with Indian, European, British and American standards.

The role involves preparing STAAD Pro calculations, Tekla models, interface checks with mechanical teams, and supervising subcontractors to deliver quality, on-time structural deliverables for complex industrial projects.

Qualifications

• Familiarity with Skids and Modules.
• Knowledge about Indian, European, British and American standards.
• Experience in basic design of steel structures and review of detail designs and fabrication drawings.
• Experience in managing engineering subcontractors efficiently.
• Strong analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the structural design and analysis of skid-mounted and modular systems for industrial applications.
• Understand tender specification requirements related to steel structural and civil design, review and seek clarifications, deviations.
• Estimate quantities and costs.
• Load data in proposal stage.
• Design/cost optimization and supplier management.
• Review supplier drawings/design and coordinate with customers (internal/external).
• Design modules, lifting plans, in-place analysis, transportation analysis.
• Analyze for proof load tests.
• Design lifting lugs and pad eyes.
• Structural engineering of skids/modules during project execution.
• Prepare structural strength calculations in STAAD Pro; provide design input to modelling and detailing; design connections (bolted/welded); perform FEA.
• Lifting/handling/transport studies; design calculations for frames, lugs, spreader beams.
• Prepare design calculation reports for client/consultants/Notified bodies/3rd party review.
• Produce Tekla models, erection/shop drawings for structural members.
• Check interfaces with mechanical, piping and equipment and steel structures.
• Control structural steel quantities within budget; manage subcontractors; ensure quality control; ensure deliverables per plan; provide as-built documentation.

Main Responsibilities:

Proposal Phase:

• Lead the structural design and analysis of skid-mounted and modular systems for industrial applications.
• Understanding Tender specification requirements related to steel structural and civil design, review and seek clarifications, deviations.
• Quantity and cost estimation
• Load data in proposal stage
• Design/ cost optimization and supplier management.
• Review of supplier drawings/ design and coordination with customer (internal/ external)
• Design Module, Lifting plans, In-place analysis, Transportation Analysis
• Analysis for proof load test
• Design of lifting lug and pad eye

Project Execution Phase:

• Structural engineering of Skid, Module
• Preparing Structural strength calculations in STAAD Pro, Providing Design input to design team for modelling and detailing, Structural Connection designs (Bolted / Welded structures), FEA.
• Lifting, Handling, transportation studies of skids, modules and perform design calculations for associated equipment (Frames, lugs, spreader beams, etc.)
• Preparing design calculation reports, submission to client / consultants / Notified bodies / 3rd Party review and approvals.
• Tekla models, erection, shop assembly and fabrication drawings related to structural members.
• Check interface with mechanical, piping and equipment and steel structures.
• Controlling structural steel quantities within budget during executions stage.
• Managing engineering subcontractors work related to structural engineering.
• Ensure quality control of all engineering and design work related to Structural engineering.
• Ensure project engineering deliverables release as per work plan/schedule agreed.
• As-built documentation.
• Disposal of shop feedbacks, site feedbacks.

Essential Requirements:

• Familiarity with Skids, Modules
• Good hands-on skills in STAAD Pro & Connection design tools, 3D model review tools.
• Knowledge about INDIAN, EURO, BRITISH and AMERICAN standard.
• Experience in basic design of steel structure, and review of Detail designs, fabrication drawings.
• Experience in managing engineering subcontractors efficiently.
• Responsible and accountable for structural calculations, quality of work and time schedule.
