Job summary

Propel Industries is seeking a proactive Strategic Sourcing professional in Tamil Nadu to lead supplier development and cost optimization across engineering commodities. You will evaluate suppliers on cost, quality, capacity, and delivery, drive RFQ processes, and negotiate terms to secure competitive pricing.

You will collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Production, and Planning for New Product Development, implement VA/VE initiatives, and monitor supplier performance to ensure on-time

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Production/Industrial Engineering.
• 4–6 years in Strategic Sourcing or Procurement in heavy engineering, construction equipment, automotive, or industrial manufacturing.
• Strong understanding of engineering drawings, manufacturing processes, and material specifications.

Responsibilities

• Identify, evaluate, and develop new suppliers based on cost, quality, capacity, technology, and delivery capability.
• Lead RFQ, techno-commercial evaluation, price negotiation, and supplier selection.
• Develop sourcing strategies for castings, forgings, machined components, fabricated parts, bought-out components, and other engineering commodities.
• Conduct cost analysis, should-costing, benchmarking, and cost reduction initiatives.
• Negotiate commercial terms, payment terms, lead time, MOQ, and other contractual requirements.
• Work closely with Engineering, Quality, Production, and Planning teams for new product development and supplier finalization.
• Support New Product Development (NPD) sourcing and ensure timely supplier readiness.
• Drive VA/VE, localization, alternate sourcing, and supplier consolidation initiatives.
• Monitor supplier performance and take corrective actions for cost, quality, and delivery issues.
• Maintain sourcing data, supplier database, RFQ status, savings, and procurement reports.

• Strong understanding of engineering drawings, manufacturing processes, and material specifications is preferred.
