Job summary

Propel Industries in Coimbatore seeks an experienced procurement professional to manage supplier development, negotation, and cost reduction for heavy engineering components. You will drive POs, monitor deliveries, and ensure material availability across planning, stores, production, quality, and engineering.

The role emphasizes supplier visits, performance reviews, alternate sourcing, inventory optimization, and continuous improvement of procurement processes.

Qualifications

• 6-10 years of experience in Procurement / Purchase.
• Preferably from a Heavy Engineering / Engineering Product Manufacturing industry.

Responsibilities

• Release Purchase Orders (POs) and monitor order execution and delivery schedules.
• Follow up with suppliers for on-time delivery as per production requirements.
• Coordinate with Planning, Stores, Production, Quality, and Engineering to ensure uninterrupted material availability.
• Monitor stock levels and take proactive action to avoid material shortages and production stoppages.
• Coordinate with Quality for incoming inspection, rejection, replacement and supplier corrective actions.
• Conduct supplier visits and periodic supplier performance reviews.
• Identify alternate sources and support supplier development activities.
• Drive cost reduction through negotiation, value engineering, alternate sourcing, and productivity improvements.
• Identify opportunities for inventory reduction and storage optimization.
• Understand engineering drawings, component specifications, and manufacturing processes.
• Participate in continuous improvement and procurement process improvement initiatives.
