Job summary

Danfoss in India is seeking a Strategic Buyer to secure supply continuity, optimize supplier performance, and drive cost competitiveness through strong supplier partnerships and cross-functional collaboration. You will lead commercial discussions, manage capacity planning, and support the implementation of sourcing strategies, including SAP master data and import procurement processes.

Must-have experience in engineering-driven manufacturing and a deep understanding of TCO and should-cost

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field is required.
• 10–12 years in Strategic Sourcing, Purchasing, Supply Chain Management, or Procurement preferred.
• Strong knowledge of should costing, TCO, and supplier cost drivers.
• Experience with supplier capacity assessment, demand planning, and supplier performance management.
• Familiarity with SAP, PLM systems, and supplier quality processes incl. APQP/PPAP and ISO/IATF standards.

The Impact You'll Make

As a Strategic Buyer, you will be responsible for ensuring supply continuity, supplier performance, and cost competitiveness while building strong partnerships with suppliers and key stakeholders across the organization.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Drive supplier performance to meet delivery, quality, cost, and service level expectations.
• Manage supplier capacity planning and implement short- and long-term actions to support business demand and growth.
• Lead commercial discussions, negotiate supplier agreements, and support implementation of sourcing strategies.
• Manage engineering changes and ensure seamless implementation of changes for serial production parts.Support supplier onboarding, development, and master data management activities in SAP.
• Manage procurement activities for imported components and ensure compliance with relevant sourcing and import requirements.
• Drive cost competitiveness through should-cost analysis, standard cost management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Act as the primary escalation point for supplier-related delivery and responsiveness issues, ensuring timely resolution.Maintain strong supplier relationships and collaborate with global and cross-functional stakeholders to achieve business objectives.

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
• 10-12 years of experience in Strategic Sourcing, Purchasing, Supply Chain Management, or Procurement.Strong knowledge of should costing, Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), and supplier cost drivers.Good understanding of manufacturing processes such as casting, machining, heat treatment, plastics, and rubber.
• Experience with supplier capacity assessment, demand planning, and supplier performance management.
• Working knowledge of import procurement processes and global supply chains.Familiarity with SAP, PLM systems, and supplier quality processes including APQP/PPAP and ISO/IATF standards.
• Strong project management, stakeholder management, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.Experience in Hydraulics, Off-Highway, or Industrial Manufacturing industries is preferred
