Qualifications

  • Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.
  • Typically 6+ years of experience in logistics, supply chain, warehousing or distribution.
  • Strong skills in logistics process analysis, inventory and transportation planning.
  • Proficiency with SAP, WMS and TMS and data analytics.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and improve logistics processes to identify opportunities.
  • Develop initiatives to optimize inbound, internal and outbound material flows.
  • Drive Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen and other improvement methodologies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement changes and monitor impact.
  • Support standardization of processes and system improvements (ERP/WMS/TMS).
  • Monitor KPIs such as On-Time Delivery, Inventory Accuracy and lead times.

Job Summary

The Logistics Process Improvement Specialist is responsible for identifying, planning, and implementing continuous improvements across logistics and supply chain operations. The role focuses on optimizing material flow, warehouse operations, inventory management systems, transportation networks, and distribution processes to improve efficiency, service levels, cost performance, and operational reliability.

As an experienced professional (P2), the position requires applying practical logistics and supply chain knowledge gained through formal education and professional experience. The incumbent works independently with general supervision, manages moderately complex challenges, and influences stakeholders through data-driven recommendations and process expertise.

Key Responsibilities
Logistics Process Optimization
  • Analyze and evaluate existing logistics processes to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Develop and implement initiatives to enhance inbound, internal, and outbound material flows.
  • Recommend best practices to improve logistics efficiency, productivity, and service performance.
  • Drive continuous improvement projects utilizing Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and other operational excellence methodologies.
Material Movement & Storage Management
  • Assess and optimize material handling processes, warehouse layouts, and storage systems.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce waste, handling time, and storage costs.
  • Improve space utilization and inventory accessibility within warehouses and distribution facilities.
  • Support implementation of automated storage and material handling solutions where applicable.
Inventory Management Enhancement
  • Analyze inventory processes and define improved inventory management approaches.
  • Support development and implementation of inventory control systems and procedures.
  • Monitor inventory accuracy, stock levels, replenishment cycles, and inventory turnover.
  • Collaborate with operations, procurement, and planning teams to optimize inventory performance.
Transportation & Distribution Optimization
  • Evaluate transportation networks and logistics routes to improve delivery performance and reduce costs.
  • Define and recommend optimal transportation routes and distribution strategies.
  • Analyze freight utilization, transportation capacity, and carrier performance.
  • Support implementation of transportation management tools and systems.
Data Analysis & Performance Monitoring
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret logistics data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Develop logistics performance metrics and dashboards.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) including:
    • Inventory Accuracy
    • Inventory Turnover
    • On-Time Delivery
    • Transportation Cost
    • Warehouse Utilization
    • Logistics Lead Time
    • Order Fulfillment Performance
  • Generate reports and present findings to management.
Process Standardization & System Improvement
  • Define standardized logistics processes and operating procedures.
  • Participate in logistics system enhancements, upgrades, and implementation projects.
  • Ensure process documentation is maintained and updated.
  • Support digital transformation initiatives within logistics operations.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Coordinate with Supply Chain, Procurement, Manufacturing, Planning, Customer Service, and Warehouse teams.
  • Facilitate alignment of logistics improvement projects with business objectives.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to operational teams.
  • Influence process improvements by explaining facts, data, policies, and best practices.
Compliance & Risk Management
  • Ensure logistics processes comply with company policies and applicable regulations.
  • Support safety, quality, and environmental compliance in logistics operations.
  • Identify operational risks and develop mitigation plans.
