Jobgether is partnering with a client in India to hire a Storage and Backup System Administrator. The role focuses on advanced operational support for enterprise storage and backup environments, ensuring data protection, availability, and performance.

You will work with NetApp ONTAP, Dell EMC storage systems, and Veeam Backup & Replication, overseeing backup and storage operations, DR activities, and capacity planning in a global client context.

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Storage and Backup System Administrator based in India.

The Storage and Backup System Administrator will provide advanced operational support and consulting services for enterprise storage and backup environments serving a global client base.
You will manage mission-critical infrastructure, ensuring the availability, reliability, and security of customer data.
Working with technologies such as NetApp ONTAP, Dell EMC storage systems, and Veeam Backup & Replication, you will oversee complex storage and backup operations.
The role combines hands-on administration, troubleshooting, infrastructure optimization, and technical support.
You will also contribute to storage assessments, solution implementation, capacity management, and disaster recovery activities.
Collaborating with customers, vendors, and internal technical teams, you will help resolve challenging infrastructure issues and maintain service continuity.

Accountabilities

As a Storage and Backup System Administrator, you will manage enterprise storage platforms and backup environments, ensuring dependable data protection and infrastructure performance. Your responsibilities will include:

Backup Administration

• Configure, upgrade, and maintain Veeam Backup & Replication components, including master servers, backup gateways, proxies, and clients.

• Set up and administer backup repositories and supporting NAS storage solutions, including Dell EMC Data Domain and QNAP systems.

• Manage backup jobs for virtual machines, storage filers, and databases across different backup platforms.

• Diagnose and resolve backup and restore issues, including failed backup jobs and related operational incidents.

• Perform data restores according to customer requirements and recovery needs.

• Monitor backup retention policies and remove obsolete backup files when appropriate.

• Coordinate with Veeam support teams to resolve technical issues and manage product updates.

Storage Administration

• Configure and manage enterprise storage platforms, including NetApp ONTAP clusters and Dell EMC VNX, VNXe, and Unity 300 systems.

• Administer Fibre Channel (FC) SAN environments and associated components, including FC networks and switches.

• Configure and upgrade FC switches, perform zoning and masking at storage and switch levels, and establish redundant host paths.

• Manage storage pools, RAID groups, LUN masking, checkpoints, and quotas.

• Monitor storage hardware health and coordinate with vendors to arrange hardware replacements when required.

• Handle storage allocation requests across SAN and NAS environments.

• Administer NFS and CIFS volumes and shares.

• Install and configure backup storage systems, including Dell EMC Data Domain and QNAP solutions.

Operational Support

• Participate in an on-call rotation, providing escalation-level support for critical infrastructure issues.

• Contribute to Change Control and Change Advisory Board (CAB) approval processes for maintenance activities.

• Provide regular updates to stakeholders regarding infrastructure changes, incidents, and maintenance activities.

• Deliver operational support on a 24/7 rotation basis to meet customer service requirements.

Requirements

The ideal candidate has substantial experience managing enterprise storage and backup infrastructure, with strong troubleshooting skills and a customer-focused approach. You should be comfortable supporting complex environments, working independently, and participating in around-the-clock operational coverage. Key qualifications include:

• 5–8 years of overall professional experience in storage and backup administration or related infrastructure roles.

• In-depth knowledge of NetApp ONTAP clusters, Dell EMC storage systems, Data Domain, and QNAP solutions.

• Strong hands-on experience with Veeam Backup & Replication.

• Practical understanding of enterprise storage technologies, including SAN, NAS, and unified storage systems.

• Knowledge of Fibre Channel environments, switch configuration, zoning, masking, and redundant storage paths.

• Experience managing backup jobs, repositories, retention policies, and data restoration processes.

• Ability to troubleshoot complex storage, backup, and recovery issues.

• NetApp ONTAP, EMC Storage, or Veeam Backup & Replication certifications are an advantage.

• Working knowledge of Linux operating systems and iSCSI is an additional advantage.

• Creative problem-solving abilities and an interest in identifying innovative technical solutions.
