Job summary

Puma Energy in Mumbai seeks a Stock Accountant to manage accounting and reconciliations for multiple entities within the oil downstream segment. You will capture product purchases, track costs, and ensure accuracy in the ERP system, maintaining daily average cost and reporting variances.

You will reconcile physical stock with system data, investigate abnormal losses, coordinate with site managers, and provide data for audits.

Qualifications

• Experience in stock accounting and ERP-based cost capture.
• 2+ years of experience preferred in the oil downstream sector.
• Commerce degree or equivalent qualification.

Responsibilities

• Account for product purchases and costs in ERP.
• Record operational and transit losses and gains in ERP.
• Reconcile physical inventory with system stock data daily.
• Ensure correct stock costing and maintain average cost daily.
• Investigate abnormal losses/gains and advise corrective action.
• Ensure daily stock receipts, sales, adjustments and own use are entered.
• Coordinate with site managers to resolve delays in stock accounting.
• Review costs and taxes before system processing.
• Ensure stock reporting matches sub-ledger in monthly reports.
• Raise provisions and accruals for stock valuation monthly.
• Enforce internal controls per Puma Stock Procedures.
• Provide inventory data and assist auditors.

Job description

Main PurposeStock accountant - accounting and reconciliations for one or more entities.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESAccounting of product purchases, capturing product costs and related expenses in ERP systemAccounting of operational and transit losses and gains in ERP systemReconciliation of physical inventory records with system stock dataEnsure product costs are accounted correctly, and average cost is maintained in the system on daily basis. Analysis of the variance in cost.Ensure receipts, sales, manual stock adjustments and own use are accounted all in system on daily basis by comparing the physical with SystemAbnormal losses/gains are investigated, and necessary corrective action is taken by the site managers.Ensuring sites are submitting daily stock reconciliations timeouslyClose co-ordination through continuous follow up and helping resolve challenges that may result in delays in stock accounting process.Review product costs and taxes before processing in system as submitted by Product Accountant and Tax AccountantEnsure that stock is correctly reported and match with sub ledger in the Flash and Monthly reporting.Ensure appropriate provisions and accrual are raised in the books on a monthly basis concerning stock valuation and movementEnforce internal controls in the stocks function. This entails ensuring adherence to Puma Stocks Procedures as advised in the Puma Internal Control PolicyProviding inventory information data and resolving queries from auditors both internal and externalReconciliation of stock vendors and accruals on monthly basisEnsure timely submission of daily, weekly and monthly stock reportingRequirements:Experience:Years of experience: Preferably 2+ years or moreAccounting Degree Educated or equivalent (B. Com, M. Com, ICWA/ CMA, MBA)Business orientated with experience in the Oil Downstream industry is preferablyExperience in understanding Stock procedures, accounting and managementCandidates from shared services set up preferredKnowledge of stock accounting method needed (Average / FIFO /LIFO)
