About Ansh

Around 500,000 newborns die in India every year. Most are low birthweight or premature babies. Kangaroo Mother Care — skin-to-skin contact, close monitoring, exclusive breastfeeding — reduces neonatal mortality by 33–50% and carries the WHO’s strongest possible recommendation. The evidence is settled. The problem is getting it to actually happen inside government systems and communities, at scale, consistently.

Ansh is dedicated to saving newborn lives by building healthcare capacity to implement Kangaroo Care in government systems in India. Our mission is to create a scalable and cost-effective model that implements and promotes Kangaroo Mother Care and other impact focused newborn care best practices.

Founded in 2023, we now have more than 180 on-ground full‑time staff, 3 implementation partners, and 10 core team members delivering our programs in 15 District Hospitals. What we’re working on now is how to take KMC to new states, test new approaches, and build the kind of organisation that can carry a much bigger program.

The role

Ansh is seeking a highly motivated State Program Monitoring Manager to lead the data‑driven monitoring of our newborn care programs. This role is responsible for the quality, consistency, and reliability of how we track our Kangaroo Mother Care programs in government district hospitals throughout the state.

To run impactful, cost‑effective programs, it is critical to know what's actually happening on the ground. Your primary job is to make sure we are monitoring our programs properly — that data is collected accurately and on time, that problems at any site are caught early, and that what we learn turns into real improvements. You will build, manage, and develop a team of M&E Coordinators working across our sites, owning the quality of their monitoring work and making sure the insights it generates reach the people who can act on them.

You will work closely with the Program and Training teams, on‑ground coordinators and the leadership team, as well as engaging with external stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

Building and Managing the M&E Coordinator Team

Recruit, train, and onboard new M&E Coordinators, ensuring they have the skills and knowledge to monitor program delivery effectively in the field.

Manage and supervise a team of M&E Coordinators across the state’s district hospitals, providing day‑to‑day guidance, support, and oversight to ensure high‑quality monitoring work.

Review the quality of coordinators' field work including data submissions, checklists, interviews and weekly reports — and give regular, specific feedback to help each coordinator improve.

Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous learning within the team; promote open communication and resolve conflicts and issues as they arise.

Monitoring Program Delivery and Data Quality

Oversee the day‑to‑day monitoring of KMC program delivery across all state sites, ensuring the program is being implemented as intended.

Ensure coordinators collect data that is accurate, complete, timely, and reliable, through regular audits, spot‑checks, and validation processes.

Gather and assess issues through weekly meetings with M&E coordinators and suggest action points across teams to drive improvements

Identify gaps, anomalies, and data‑quality issues in field monitoring and put corrective processes in place.

Analysis, Reporting and Improvement

Use spreadsheets, statistical software, and data visualisation tools to turn monitoring data into clear, actionable insights for Program Managers and leadership.

Leverage dashboards, M&E insights and other information sources to prepare updates and reports that inform program planning and decision‑making

Evaluate existing monitoring tools and processes and recommend practical improvements to make field data collection simpler, faster, and more useful.

Why should you apply?

Purpose-driven Work: Be at the forefront of saving newborn lives through one of the most effective global health interventions

Career Growth: Take on leadership in a growing organisation with plans to expand across India

On-the‑Ground Impact: Work closely with ground teams and see the tangible impact of your efforts

Values-Based Culture: Join a team that values compassion, excellence, and collaboration

Who we're looking for

You're highly motivated by the impact of the role, and this guides your day‑to‑day decisions. You want to see your work having a clear effect in the real world.

You are highly organised and skilled at managing multiple tasks in parallel

You have experience in managing M&E tools and systems that enable high quality data‑driven decision‑making.

You have experience running or supporting field monitoring, and you understand what it takes to get accurate, timely data out of busy field settings.

You are an experienced people manager who knows how to support team members to excel — setting clear expectations, giving useful feedback, and helping coordinators grow.

You have a strong foundation in analytical skills. These skills should include both a strong aptitude for critical thinking and an ability to analyse multiple types of data.

You have proficiency in relevant software including Microsoft Office and Google applications, and experience using some statistical and data visualisation tools.

You are a great communicator, able to synthesise information from multiple sources and present it clearly to others.

You're interested in sceptical truth‑seeking to really understand what's going on in the field.

You are a diligent, high‑agency professional who proactively explores questions, identifies ways to make our work more impactful, and makes them happen.

You excel at both focused, independent work and collaborative work requiring coordination across teams.
