Job summary

Credit Saison India seeks an experienced State Credit Head for the LAP portfolio to lead credit functions across the state, ensuring sound decisions, risk mitigation, and portfolio growth.

You will develop LAP credit policies, manage the regional team, oversee underwriting, set limits and valuation methods, review portfolio health, and work with sales, operations and legal to achieve business goals while staying compliant with regulations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; MBA or CFA preferred.
• 10–15 years in credit risk with at least 5 years in LAP leadership.
• In-depth LAP appraisal, underwriting, risk assessment knowledge.
• Real estate market dynamics, property valuation, collateral law knowledge.
• Proven ability to build and mentor high-performing credit teams.
• Excellent analytical, decision-making and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement LAP credit policies and procedures for the state, aligned with national guidelines and market dynamics.
• Lead the state's LAP credit team, including hiring, training, performance management and career development.
• Oversee underwriting for LAP applications ensuring policy adherence, regulatory compliance and timely decisions.
• Establish and monitor credit limits, collateral valuation methodologies and risk assessment frameworks for LAP products.
• Conduct portfolio reviews, identify risks and implement measures to maintain asset quality and reduce delinquencies.
• Collaborate with sales, operations and legal teams to streamline processes and achieve business objectives.
• Prepare and present credit reports, portfolio analyses and risk assessments to senior management.
• Stay updated on market trends, regulatory changes and competitive landscape affecting LAP.
• Ensure compliance with internal and external audit requirements related to credit operations.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

Job Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field. MBA or relevant professional certification (e.g., CFA) preferred.
• Minimum of 10-15 years of progressive experience in credit risk management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role specifically focused on Loan Against Property (LAP) products.
• In-depth knowledge of LAP credit appraisal, underwriting, and risk assessment techniques.
• Strong understanding of real estate market dynamics, property valuation, and legal aspects related to collateral.
• Proven track record of managing and developing high-performing credit teams.
• Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal abilities.
• Proficiency in credit analysis software and Microsoft Office Suite.
