Extreme Networks in Bengaluru seeks an experienced Test Engineer to lead validation of data center networking features, security, and routing technologies. You will design end-to-end test strategies, build scalable topologies, and drive automation using Spirent/IXIA, VMware NSX, OpenStack, and Python.

You will collaborate with product management, engineering, and customer solution teams to ensure robust performance, security, and scale.

Qualifications

• Requires a BS or MS in EE/CS and 8 to 14 years of hands-on experience in functional, system test and automation.
• Excellent technical knowledge on Data Center Network – IP Fabric, VxLAN EVPN, Network Virtualization Framework
• Excellent knowledge on Network Security, and Routing Protocols (OSPF, ISIS BGP, Multicast)
• Hands-on experience in test plan development and validating scalable data center network and network security solutions
• Experience in planning and building large scaled system test topologies with test automation tools and virtualization platforms such as VMware, OpenStack and Linux variants
• Hands-on experience in developing test automation suites using Python
• Experience in performance, scale and convergence testing and analyzing performance related issues

Responsabilités

• Work closely with development engineering, product management, and customer solution engineering team to test and validate features functionality and system test profiles for data center networks, network security and routing technologies.
• Develop test strategy, test topology and test plan to validate the features end-to-end at scale with network security considerations.
• Understand various customer deployments and solutions across data center networks, security, routing and switching and validate customer profiles.
• Execute test cases and validate the solution end-to-end and document the test results on performance, scale and security.
• Collaborate with development team to translate software requirements into high-quality test automation suites.
• Debug and troubleshoot complex issues and work closely with the engineering team on the failures and validate the fixes.
• Develop automation for the end-to-end solution validation and integrate the automation for seamless validation.
• Review customer deployments and customer found issues and address any gaps in the test coverage.
• Involve in customer deployments and customer escalations.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Requires a BS or MS in EE/CS and 8 to 14 years of hands‑on experience in functional, system test and automation
• Excellent technical knowledge on Data Center Network – IP Fabric, VxLAN EVPN, Network Virtualization Framework
• Excellent technical knowledge on Network Security, and Routing Protocols (OSPF, ISIS BGP, Multicast)
• Excellent knowledge and hands‑on experience in test plan development and validating scalable data center network and network security solutions
• Experience in planning and building large scaled system test topologies with detailed knowledge of test automation tools and software test tools (Spirent, IXIA) and virtualization platforms such as VMware (vCenter, NSX), OpenStack and Linux OS variants such as Ubuntu, CentOS, KVM
• Hands‑on experience in developing test automation suites using Python
• Experience in performance, scale and convergence testing and analyzing performance related issues and improving the performance and convergence at system level
• Ability to develop and publish solution validation document and test reports
• Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization: Product Management, Technical Marketing, Field Sales, Documentation and Development Team
• Highly motivated and self‑driven. Able to collaborate cross functionally to meet challenging goals.

Skillset Required:

• Excellent knowledge and work experience in most of the following areas:
• IEEE 802.1 (Bridging, VLAN, STP, MAC security, LLDP, AVB)
• L2/L3 Features (TCP/IP, VRRP, IGMP, IPv4, IPv6, ICMP, ICMPv6, ARP), Basic understanding of IS‑IS
• Experience with cloud environments such as AWS, Google Cloud or Azure is a plus.
• Exposure to Docker Containerization, Clustering solutions is a plus.
• Familiarity with Traffic Generators (Ixia/Spirent) and Network debugging tools (Wireshark, ping, traceroute etc.)
• Should have hands‑on experience on Test planning, topology planning, requirement‑to‑testcase mapping, Test case writing, Defect logging and tracking, with excellent debugging skills.
• Good knowledge and hands‑on experience of test tools.
• Good knowledge of testing methodologies, knowledge of different testing types and overall product life‑cycle
