Job summary

HARMAN Automotive in Bengaluru seeks a senior Test Lead to architect AI-enabled testing and drive cloud-based validation across the Intelligent Cockpit division. You will guide the test strategy, align with engineering leaders, and translate requirements into scalable, secure solutions.

The role demands hands-on expertise in Python and C++, strong CI/CD know-how, and a track record of leading QA teams in automotive or SaaS contexts.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of overall software validation experience
• 10+ years as a technical leader in a QA or software automotive testing organization
• 5+ years of experience in AI-enabled testing and intelligent automation
• Fluent English proficiency, both written and spoken
• Expertise in AI-enabled testing engineering, including model-based and data-driven validation approaches
• Strong knowledge of testing frameworks, including Android and Linux test frameworks
• Excellent communication skills for management and cross-functional audiences

What You’ll Be Part Of

You are an expert in both software test engineering and AI‑enabled test architecture, with more than ten years of experience designing, implementing, and scaling advanced testing solutions. As part of this role, you will regularly visit Harman premises to collaborate directly with engineering and product teams. Leveraging your deep expertise in AI‑driven validation, automation frameworks, and large‑scale test architectures, you will guide software engineering teams in adopting modern, intelligent testing practices. You will play a central role in enabling AI‑based testing across the entire Intelligent Cockpit division, ensuring higher efficiency, improved coverage, and faster time to market.

Your technical leadership and ability to translate complex challenges into actionable solutions make you a key contributor to the success of Harman’s customer programs and a strategic asset for the Intelligent Cockpit organization.

Your Team:

You will lead a small testing team, plan their tasks, and bring them to closure.

How You’ll Make An Impact

• Architect the test systems, validation strategy, and overall quality framework for the Intelligent Cockpit division.
• Provide technical leadership for the development of the testing framework used to design test cases and support automation across the product line.
• Collaborate closely with engineering leaders, architects, and cross‑functional teams to ensure alignment, technical coherence, and shared quality objectives.
• Proactively gather technical input from software engineering teams and drive the definition, evolution, and continuous improvement of software testing solutions.
• Design and implement automation, AI‑enabled validation, and DevOps solutions for the Software Product division.
• Support managers by clarifying technical issues related to software development, testability, integration, and system behavior.
• Communicate complex technical challenges in a clear, structured, and actionable manner to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Advocate for and promote the adoption of a common software testing framework across teams to ensure consistency and efficiency.
• Provide expert guidance on test architecture, automation strategy, and AI‑driven testing solutions, enabling scalable and future‑proof validation capabilities.
• As a senior Test Lead you will be responsible for translating business and system requirements (related mainly to Test, AI and process) into end-to-end technical solutions that are scalable, secure, and aligned with organizational standards.
• Test architect for future SDV solutions and entire Software product.
• You will ensure an efficient integration of cloud‑based testing into the CICD pipeline in order to reduce the overall development lead time (commit to releasable software)
• You will focus to move majority testing of cockpit automotive software to cloud and automate it.
• In this role you will enable unique AI driven test solutions that will help accelerate testing and hence a quicker time to market. Today's biggest challenge is integration testing, which is primarily done on HW and causes major delays in the projects.
• Customers are also interested to see how Harman Intelligent cockpit is doing validation and would want to buy these solutions. You will architect a highly scalable and efficient testing solution for Software Products/Intelligent Cockpit.

What Makes You A Strong Fit

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent; BE with MBA would be preferred.
• 15+ years of overall software validation experience
• 10+ years of experience as a technical leader in a QA or software automotive testing organization.
• 5+ years of experience in AI‑enabled testing and intelligent automation.
• Fluent English proficiency, both written and spoken.

• Ability to understand, analyze, and capture requirements from multiple engineering teams.
• Deep knowledge of existing software testing solutions within QA organizations.
• Strong understanding of test framework internals and hands‑on experience with Python, C++ development.
• Solid understanding of automotive software development methodologies, including Automotive SPICE and ISO 26262.
• Good understanding of Android architecture and its implications for testing and integration.
• At least 5-year experience in validating web-based SaaS applications.
• At least 5-year experience in validating automotive infotainment software.
• Experience in automating a test suite for web-based SaaS applications.
• Experience in automating a test suite for automotive infotainment software.
• Experience working with AWS public cloud.
• Experience in driving the test architecture starting from requirements to deployment.
• Exposure in Google Compliance Testing (CTS, VTS, STS, ACTS etc)
• Familiar with CDD , GAS and related test suites (like the Compatibility Test Suite)
• In-Depth understanding of -Requirement analysis - Test Case Creation - Test Case Execution - Sanity Test.
• Good understanding of development project cycle
• Good understanding of Continuous integration and deployment
• Good understanding of test Driven Development practices.
• Ability to solve the problem independently.
• Strong problem-solving skills and awareness of DevOps and Agile principles.

Bonus Points if You Have

• Testing knowledge of overall vehicle testing, that includes other domains like vehicle, chasis, powertrain, ADAS etc.
• Testing with Digital twin on cloud.
• Good experience in creating and generating testing data for testing scenarios that requires huge amount of data (like certain use cases of Autonomous driving)
• QNX experience is a bonus.
• Experience in developing Android middleware and applications
• Knowledge in embedded software engineering
• Experience in testing SaaS cloud solutions
