Job summary

HARMAN Automotive is seeking a Test Automation Engineer to advance telematics testing. You will develop and maintain Python test scripts, define automation strategy for API and system validation, and review software specs to ensure quality.

The role requires 3+ years in automotive test automation, Linux/VM experience, networking basics, and data analysis tools like Wireshark. English communication is essential; ISTQB/A-SPICE is a plus. Hybrid work with domestic travel options.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in automotive test automation.
• Knowledge of software testing (white/grey box).
• Linux/VM experience.
• Networking basics (TCP/IP).
• Data analysis/log tracing (Wireshark).
• Good English communication (written and verbal).
• Hardware setup knowledge; Telematics/Infotainment systems., eCall and power modes.
• Experience testing automotive sub-domains: CAN, Diagnostics, Cyber Security, ECU flashing, eCall, power modes.
• ISTQB Certified and/or knowledge of Automotive Testing Standards (A-SPICE) is a bonus.
• Bachelor's degree in CS/IT or related field.
• Scripting experience (Python, C#, Perl).
• Knowledge of virtual test environments.

Responsibilities

• Develop automation framework concept for telematics domain.
• Develop automation strategy for API, overall system, and software level validation.
• Provide architectural and technical support on developing Automotive Framework.
• Develop and maintain test scripts in Python.
• Develop and maintain tools for Test Automation to improve efficiency and quality.
• Review software specifications and testing procedures; assist in creating test cases.
• Perform manual and automated testing as per requirements and specs.
• Write test cases, scripts, and detailed reports; provide real-time task status and weekly updates.
• Create/update documentation for testing procedures.
• Participate in validation review sessions, weekly meetings, and project sync.
• Act in accordance with automotive industry standards for in-car applications.

About the Role

The person in position will be responsible for doing software testing for next generation telematics platform, develop & maintain test cases/scripts and drive test strategy for platform.

What You Will Do

Test Automation Engineer

• Automation framework concept development for telematics Domain
• Automation strategy development for API validation, Overall System validation and Software level Validation for telematics domain.
• Provide architectural and technical support on developing Automotive Framework.
• Develop and maintain test scripts in python.
• Development and maintenance of tools for Test Automation to improve efficiency and quality.
• Review Software specifications, testing procedures, Creating/Assisting on test cases.
• Manual and automated Test and Validation accordingly to the requirement and specifications
• Write test cases, test scripts, and create detailed reports for the testing procedure.
• Provide real time status for the current tasks and report weekly activity.
• Create/Update documentation for the testing procedures.
• Participate in test validation review sessions, weekly meeting, project sync.
• Act according to the standards of the automotive industry and in-car applications

What You Need to Be Successful

• 3+ years of experience as a Test Automation Engineer in Automotive
• Knowledge or experience with Software Testing (White box/Grey box)
• Linux experience (low-medium level, Virtual Machine, etc)
• Networking knowledge (TCP/IP, Capturing packages, NAT, Bridge, P2P)
• Experience with data analysis, logs, tracing (EG: Wireshark)
• Good English communication skills both written and verbal.
• HW setup knowledge, also Telematic/Infotainment systems, eCall and Power Modes
• Should have Experienced in testing automotive Sub-Domains: CAN, Diagnostics, Cyber Security, ECU flashing, eCall, power modes.

Bonus Points if You Have

• ISTQB Certified
• Knowledge of Automotive Testing Standard (A-SPICE)
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or other relevant (IT connected) specializations.
• Some experience in Programming/Scripting (one or more languages from: Python, C#, Perl)
• Knowledge of virtual test environment
• Good English communication skills both written and verbal.
