Job summary

HARMAN in Bengaluru, India is seeking an Automation Test Engineer for Automotive software validation. You will validate software updates for vehicle ECUs, design test cases for OTA deployments, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure quality releases.

You'll work with Python scripting, Robot Framework, and Vector tools to build and maintain automated test suites, analyze logs, and contribute to CI/CD pipelines in a fast-paced, global environment.

Qualifications

About the Role:

• Experience with Python scripting/CAPL for test automation.
• Knowledge of Robot Framework or other automation frameworks.
• Experience developing and maintaining automated test suites.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools and automated validation pipelines.

What You Will Do:

• Validate software update for vehicle ECUs and connected vehicle systems.
• Perform vehicle-level testing in test benches, HIL environments, and real vehicles.
• Plan, design, and execute test cases for OTA (Over-The-Air) and workshop-based software updates.
• Support automation of software update validation using test frameworks and scripting tools.
• Conduct functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end testing before software release.
• Monitor update processes and analyze logs to identify defects, failures, and performance issues.
• Collaborate with development, system integration, cybersecurity, and vehicle testing teams to resolve issues.
• Create and maintain test specifications, test reports, defect records, and validation documentation.
• Verify diagnostic functionality and data consistency before and after software updates.
• Support root cause analysis of software update failures observed during testing or field trials.
• Takes ownership of deliverables and holds accountability
• Positive attitude, approachable personality, and strong collaboration skills
• Effective communication and stakeholder interaction abilities
• Self-motivated with a continuous learning mindset

What You Need to Be Successful:

• Strong understanding of software update and release validation processes in automotive systems.
• Knowledge of OTA (Over-The-Air) software update technologies
• Experience with automotive communication protocols: CAN CAN FD LIN Automotive Ethernet
• Experience in UDS (Unified Diagnostic Services) - ISO 14229
• Hands-on experience with Vector tools such as CANoe, CANalyzer etc.
• Experience in test planning, test execution, defect tracking, and reporting.
• Experience with version control and configuration management tools (Git, DNG etc.)
• Ability to analyze logs(dlt, wireshark), traces, and software update failure reports.
