Job summary

Lenovo in Bengaluru seeks a Hardware Development Engineer for the Infrastructure Solutions Group. You will contribute to designing innovative server hardware, with exposure to the latest technologies and collaboration across global teams to meet customer requirements.

Ideal candidates have 8+ years in x86 hardware, strong signal integrity, and experience with high-speed PCB design, EDA tools, and Linux/Windows environments. This is a full-time, on-site role in Karnataka, India.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electronics/Computer Engineering or equivalent required.
• 8+ years in x86 architecture and hardware design, server experience preferred.
• Experience with DDR, PCIe, USB, Ethernet, SPI, I2C and high-speed PCB design/SI.
• Proficiency with EDA tools for PCB schematic capture and layout, hardware bring-up.
• Strong problem solving and cross-functional collaboration abilities.

Description and Requirements

What youll do: The position is for a Hardware Development Engineer in the Lenovo Infrastructure Solutions Group (ISG), based in Bangalore, Karnataka. This is an exciting role in the ThinkSystem Server Development organization that has a strong focus to be the #1 trusted IT Partner in the Datacenter market. The hardware development engineer will be an integral member of a team responsible for developing innovative and complex server designs to meet customer and business needs. These organic designs provide exposure to the latest technologies from Lenovo and its development partners to meet market demands. The role also entails solving unique client challenges through the custom development of solutions.

Required skills:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics/Computer Engineering.
• 8+ years of in-depth experience in x86 architecture and hardware design. Server design experience is strongly preferred.
• Knowledge and design experience of DDR, PCIe, USB, Ethernet, SPI, I2C along with High-speed PCB design and signal integrity will be an essential requirement.
• Experience in EDA schematic design tools for PCB schematic creation, supporting physical/Layout design activity, hardware bring-up and validation will be required
• Strong problem-solving skills with an ability to triage and resolve complex hardware issues, working seamlessly with other engineers on problem investigation will be essential.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for a variety of tasks, potentially including customer engagements, architecture design/feedback, and executive updates.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in both a team environment and self-directed; passionate about learning new technologies and skills.

Preferred skills:

• Master’s Degree
• Previous experience in High-speed board design, Signal Integrity, FPGA code development and validation, DC Power circuit design, and/or PCIe bus design, simulation, and validation.
• Proficiency in Linux/Windows Operating systems. Experience with OS virtualization.
• Strong proficiency in shell scripting (BASH/Perl/Python and Windows Power Shell)
• Demonstrated successful hardware design execution on a project with engineer team members located in multiple geographies.

Business acumen to engage with various functional teams required to take projects from concept to production.
