The role emphasizes DDR/PCIe high‑speed PCB design, signal integrity, and hardware bring‑up. You’ll partner with global teams to deliver production‑ready solutions while solving complex hardware challenges.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electronics/Computer Engineering.
• 12+ years of in-depth experience in x86 architecture and hardware design; server design preferred.
• Knowledge of DDR, PCIe, USB, Ethernet, SPI, I2C and high‑speed PCB design with signal integrity.
• Experience with EDA schematic design tools and hardware bring-up and validation.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills; able to work in cross‑functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop innovative and complex server designs for Lenovo ThinkSystem.
• Be an integral member of the hardware development team focusing on datacenter solutions.
• Triage, debug, and resolve complex hardware issues with other engineers.
• Support hardware bring-up, validation, and production readiness with partners.
• Collaborate with global teams to translate customer needs into robust solutions.

Description and Requirements

What youll do: The position is for a Hardware Development Engineer in the Lenovo Infrastructure Solutions Group (ISG), based in Bangalore, Karnataka. This is an exciting role in the ThinkSystem Server Development organization that has a strong focus to be the #1 trusted IT Partner in the Datacenter market. The hardware development engineer will be an integral member of a team responsible for developing innovative and complex server designs to meet customer and business needs. These organic designs provide exposure to the latest technologies from Lenovo and its development partners to meet market demands. The role also entails solving unique client challenges through the custom development of solutions.

Required skills:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics/Computer Engineering.
• 12+ years of in-depth experience in x86 architecture and hardware design. Server design experience is strongly preferred.
• Knowledge and design experience of DDR, PCIe, USB, Ethernet, SPI, I2C along with High-speed PCB design and signal integrity will be an essential requirement.
• Experience in EDA schematic design tools for PCB schematic creation, supporting physical/Layout design activity, hardware bring-up and validation will be required.
• Strong problem-solving skills with an ability to triage and resolve complex hardware issues, working seamlessly with other engineers on problem investigation will be essential.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for a variety of tasks, potentially including customer engagements, architecture design/feedback, and executive updates.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in both a team environment and self-directed; passionate about learning new technologies and skills.

Preferred skills:

• Master’s Degree
• Previous experience in High-speed board design, Signal Integrity, FPGA code development and validation, DC Power circuit design, and/or PCIe bus design, simulation, and validation.
• Proficiency in Linux/Windows Operating systems. Experience with OS virtualization.
• Strong proficiency in shell scripting (BASH/Perl/Python and Windows Power Shell)
• Demonstrated successful hardware design execution on a project with engineering team members located in multiple geographies.
• Business acumen to engage with various functional teams required to take projects from concept to production.
