Job summary

NoPo Nanotechnologies India Private Limited in Bengaluru, Karnataka, is seeking a Staff Engineer- Mechanical Design to own the detailed design of high-temperature reactor assemblies. You will perform pressure-part calculations, run FEA, develop 3D CAD models, and prepare drawings and BOMs for fabrication and testing.

The role requires 3–5 years of experience in pressure/high-temperature equipment design, proficiency in SolidWorks and ANSYS, and familiarity with ASME VIII / B31.3.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering; Master's degree is a plus.
• 3–5 years of experience in mechanical design of pressure or high-temperature equipment.
• Hands-on pressure-part design calculations to ASME VIII / B31.3 or equivalent.
• Working knowledge of FEA (ANSYS or equivalent) for thermal and structural analysis.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD, GD&T and engineering drawing standards.
• Understanding of welding, NDT and inspection practices for fabricated equipment.
• Experience taking at least one design through fabrication and testing.
• Exposure to high-temperature alloys, creep, high-pressure gas systems or compression fittings and tubing is a plus.
• Willingness to take ownership and work in a fast-paced start-up environment.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Own the detailed mechanical design of assigned reactor assemblies – tubes, end fittings, manifolds, supports and heater housings – for high-pressure, high-temperature service, working to the design basis set by the Principal Engineer.
• Prepare design calculations for pressure, thermal expansion and wall thickness, and run thermal and structural FEA on high-temperature nickel-alloy components.
• Develop 3D models, fabrication drawings, GA drawings and BOMs, and check them against ASME B31.3 / Section VIII or equivalent requirements.
• Design practical solutions for thermal expansion of hot tubes and connections, such as expansion loops, bellows and sliding supports.
• Review drawings and calculations prepared by associate engineers, and help them grow their design skills.
• Present designs at design reviews and incorporate review comments before release.
• Prepare fabrication, welding, inspection and pressure/leak test requirements for your designs; coordinate with vendors and support inspections and tests.
• Work with the process, CFD and electrical & instrumentation teams so that designs match flow, temperature, heater and instrument requirements.
• Support assembly, installation and commissioning of reactor systems on the shop floor.
• Investigate mechanical failures of tubes, fittings and seals during continuous operation, and propose design improvements.
• Prepare DFMEA for your designs and take part in HAZOP and management of change reviews.
• Maintain design calculations, drawing revisions and design records.
• Follow all EHS procedures, including safe working around toxic and high-pressure gases, permit-to-work and lockout/tag out.
