As a Staff Engineer - Backend, you will play a critical role in designing and building systems that can scale 10x-100x, while remaining deeply hands‑on. You will drive technical excellence, influence architecture decisions, and partner closely with product and engineering teams to deliver scalable, reliable systems.

Responsibilities

• Design and build scalable backend systems to support rapid growth.
• Own key components/services end‑to‑end from design to production.
• Contribute to system design discussions and architecture decisions.
• Identify performance bottlenecks and drive scalable solutions.
• Collaborate with senior engineers to define technical direction.
• Write high‑quality, maintainable, and production‑grade code.
• Conduct code reviews and uphold engineering best practices.
• Mentor junior and mid‑level engineers through hands‑on guidance.
• Work closely with product managers to translate business needs into technical solutions.
• Collaborate across teams to solve cross‑cutting technical problems.
• Drive improvements in system reliability, observability, and performance.

Requirements

• 8-10 years of experience in backend or platform engineering.
• Strong computer science fundamentals.
• Proficiency in backend technologies (Node.js, Java, Go, or similar).
• Experience building and scaling distributed systems in a high‑growth environment.
• Hands‑on experience with high‑traffic or transactional systems (fintech experience is a plus).
• Strong problem‑solving skills with a practical and execution‑focused mindset.
• Experience with microservices architecture and API design.
• Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure) and infrastructure fundamentals.
• Familiarity with system design principles (scalability, fault tolerance, caching, etc.).
• Ability to navigate ambiguity and work in fast‑paced environments.
