Job summary

Snapmint, a high-growth fintech platform, seeks a Staff Engineer – Backend to design and build scalable systems capable of handling 10x–100x growth. You will own core services end-to-end, influence architecture, and mentor engineers across teams, ensuring production-grade reliability in a fast-paced environment.

Collaborating with product managers, you will address performance, observability, security, and system resilience, translating business needs into robust technical solutions that scale

Qualifications

• 8–10 years backend/platform engineering experience.
• Strong CS fundamentals with hands-on coding and system design.
• Experience building scalable distributed systems in fast-growth fintech environments.
• Proficient in microservices, API design, and service ownership.
• Exposure to cloud platforms and production observability, monitoring, and debugging.

Responsibilities

• Design and build scalable backend systems to support rapid growth.

As a Staff Engineer – Backend, you will play a critical role in designing and building systems that can scale 10x–100x, while remaining deeply hands-on. You will drive technical excellence, influence architecture decisions, and partner closely with product and engineering teams to deliver scalable, reliable systems.

Requirements

• 8–10 years of experience in backend or platform engineering
• Strong computer science fundamentals
• Proficiency in backend technologies (Node.js, Java, Go, or similar)
• Experience building and scaling distributed systems in a high-growth environment
• Hands‑on experience with high-traffic or transactional systems (fintech experience is a plus)
• Strong problem-solving skills with a practical and execution-focused mindset
• Experience with microservices architecture and API design
• Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure) and infrastructure fundamentals
• Familiarity with system design principles (scalability, fault tolerance, caching, etc.)
• Ability to navigate ambiguity and work in fast-paced environments

Good to Have

• Experience with lending/fintech ecosystems
• Exposure to platform engineering (developer tooling, shared services, internal platforms)
• Understanding of observability, monitoring, and debugging large-scale systems
