Job summary

Daimler India Commercial Vehicles is seeking a Durability/Reliability Test Engineer to lead vehicle validation programs, coordinating on-road and proving-ground tests, analyzing data, and collaborating with design, quality, and global engineering teams. The role ensures trucks meet stringent standards and supports new product and technology roll-outs.

The position requires travel to various testing sites and customer locations, with focus on rigorous data analysis and clear technical reporting

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute vehicle reliability and durability test programs, including on-road and proving-ground assessments.
• Coordinate vehicle preparation, instrumentation, and test setup activities.
• Monitor vehicle performance during testing, identify failures or abnormal behavior, and support root‑cause analysis.
• Analyze test data and prepare technical reports with findings, recommendations, and presentations for senior management.
• Track test progress to ensure compliance with project timelines and validation standards.
• Conduct meetings with local and global stakeholders to align test objectives and resolve issues.
• Manage test vehicles, spare parts, and related documentation throughout the validation cycle.
• Support benchmarking activities and validation of new products and technologies.
• Collaborate closely with design, quality, and supplier teams to address component and system issues.
• Travel as required to conduct testing at various sites and customer locations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Automotive, Mechatronics, or related engineering discipline.
• 3–10 years of experience in vehicle testing, durability, reliability, or validation activities.
• Good understanding of commercial vehicle systems such as chassis, suspension, braking, powertrain, steering, and body structures.
• Experience with data acquisition systems and test instrumentation.
• Strong problem‑solving, analytical, and attention‑to‑detail skills.
• Proficiency in English communication, both written and verbal.
• Willingness to travel for testing activities.
• Familiarity with data analysis tools (e.g., Vector CANalyzer, CANape, Diadem, MATLAB).
• Experience working with cross‑functional and international engineering teams.
• Technical curiosity, hands‑on approach, and strong ownership mindset.
