Job summary

Allaboutseats is seeking a Test Validation Engineer to plan and execute validation activities for automotive seating systems. You will develop validation plans, set objectives, and prepare DVP&R documentation.

The role requires hands-on testing across static, dynamic, and environmental tests, with data acquisition and analysis using LabVIEW/MATLAB. You will work closely with design, CAE, and manufacturing teams to validate design changes, ensure safety, and drive continuous improvement in

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Automotive Engineering.
• 2-6 years of experience in automotive component/system validation or physical testing.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical testing methods, material behavior, and data analysis.
• Hands-on experience with Instron, MTS, IMV, or LMS test systems.
• Proficiency in data acquisition and analysis software (LabVIEW, DEWESoft, LMS Test.Lab, MATLAB).
• Familiarity with DFMEA, DVP&R, and validation process workflows.
• Understanding of automotive standards (SAE, ISO, FMVSS, ECE, OEM).
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.

Job Description

1. Test Planning & Setup

• Develop and execute validation plans for automotive systems (e.g., seating, interior, chassis, body, or powertrain components).
• Define test objectives, methods, instrumentation, and acceptance criteria based on design requirements and standards (FMVSS, ECE, OEM specs, etc.).
• Prepare Design Validation Plan & Report (DVP&R) documentation.
• Coordinate test fixture design, test rig setup, and equipment calibration.

2. Test Execution & Data Acquisition

• Conduct static, dynamic, vibration, fatigue, environmental, and crash/impact testing on prototypes and production parts.
• Knowledge of operation of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrodynamic test systems (e.g., Instron, MTS, LDS shakers).
• Collect and analyze test data using data acquisition systems (DAQ) and strain measurement tools.
• Ensure test accuracy, repeatability, and safety compliance during test execution.

3. Analysis & Reporting

• Evaluate test results and correlate with simulation/CAE data where applicable.
• Identify root causes of test failures and collaborate with design engineers for corrective actions.
• Generate detailed test reports with observations, conclusions, and recommendations.
• Maintain accurate test documentation and traceability.

4. Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with design, CAE, and manufacturing teams to ensure effective validation of design changes.
• Support prototype builds and validation at supplier or customer facilities when required.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of validation methods and best practices.

Working Conditions

• Primarily test coordination role with exposure to mechanical and electrical testing environments.
• Occasional travel to customer sites or test facilities.
• Must follow strict safety and quality standards during test execution.
