Senior Cloud Architecture & Modernization Consultant is responsible for driving enterprise cloud modernization initiatives, establishing cloud-native governance standards, and providing strategic consulting services to application teams across the organization. This role serves as a trusted advisor to business and technology stakeholders, guiding application modernization efforts, accelerating adoption of cloud-native services, and ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture, security, and compliance standards.
The leader will develop modernization patterns, influence cloud strategy, govern deployment decisions, and partner across engineering, security, infrastructure, and application teams to deliver scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud solutions.

Cloud Consulting & Architecture Advisory
- Provide architecture consulting and design advisory services for cloud-hosted applications.
- Lead application assessments and recommend modernization strategies leveraging cloud-native services.
- Ensure new solutions align with approved enterprise architecture standards, security requirements, and operational best practices.
- Advise application teams on platform selection, hosting models, resiliency, scalability, and cost optimization.
Cloud-Native Modernization Leadership
- Drive adoption of cloud-native services, including containers, Kubernetes platforms, serverless technologies, and managed database services.
- Develop modernization roadmaps and migration strategies to reduce technical debt and improve operational efficiency.
- Create reusable modernization frameworks, accelerators, and reference architectures for enterprise adoption.
- Partner with engineering teams to accelerate migration from traditional infrastructure to modern cloud-native platforms.
Governance & Standards
- Develop and enforce cloud-native architectural standards, policies, and approved design patterns.
- Establish governance processes for cloud deployment decisions, architecture reviews, and exception management.
- Lead initiatives to reduce non-standard IaaS deployments and promote standardized cloud-native architectures.
- Collaborate with enterprise architecture, security, and compliance teams to ensure governance alignment.
Design Patterns & Platform Enablement
- Create and maintain enterprise cloud design patterns for AWS and Azure environments.
- Define reference architectures covering identity integration, networking, resiliency, data platforms, container platforms, and application hosting.
- Support maturation of enterprise cloud capabilities and modernization services.
- Enable consistent implementation through documentation, architecture reviews, and stakeholder education.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Partner with business technology leaders, application owners, security teams, platform engineers, and cloud service providers.
- Facilitate architecture discussions and drive alignment across multiple organizations.
- Present recommendations, modernization strategies, and adoption metrics to leadership teams.
- Act as a trusted advisor for high-priority cloud transformation programs.
Operational Excellence & Metrics
- Establish KPIs and dashboards to measure cloud-native adoption, modernization progress, and business outcomes.
- Track consulting engagements and modernization initiatives to ensure delivery transparency and value realization.
- Identify opportunities to improve reliability, security posture, scalability, and cloud cost efficiency.
Drive continuous improvement of cloud services and consulting offerings.
Skill Requirements
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related discipline.
- 10+ years of experience in cloud architecture, infrastructure engineering, platform engineering, or enterprise architecture.
- Deep expertise in AWS and/or Azure cloud services.
- Experience designing and implementing Kubernetes, container, serverless, and cloud-native solutions.
- Strong understanding of cloud governance, security, compliance, and infrastructure-as-code practices.
- Demonstrated success leading enterprise modernization and transformation initiatives.
- Excellent executive communication and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications
- AWS Professional Architect, Azure Solutions Architect, or equivalent certifications.
- Experience building enterprise cloud consulting practices or architecture review programs.
- Experience with cloud modernization programs involving legacy application transformation.
- Strong knowledge of FinOps, resiliency engineering, and cloud operating models.
- Familiarity with enterprise-scale governance frameworks and architecture councils.
