TJX Companies in Hyderabad is seeking a Sr. Staff Engineer to lead data and analytics strategy for Global Stores, enabling data-driven decisions at scale across a $50B+ retail ecosystem.

The Data Modeler is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise data models that support analytics, reporting, and governance initiatives. You will work with business stakeholders, data architects, engineers, and analysts to ensure data is structured and governed for business use.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent with strong technical foundation.
• 14+ years in data modelling and database design.
• Expert with relational, dimensional and data warehouse modelling.
• Proficient in SQL and platforms like SQL Server, Oracle, Snowflake, Databricks, PostgreSQL.
• Experience with ETL/ELT and data integration concepts.
• Leads design discussions and mentors engineers on large initiatives.
• Familiar with data governance, metadata and data lineage practices.

Responsibilities

• Design conceptual, logical, and physical data models for enterprise data platforms.
• Translate business requirements into scalable data structures and schemas.
• Develop dimensional models, data marts, and warehousing models for analytics.

What You’ll Need

We are seeking a Sr. Staff Engineer to lead data and analytics strategy for Global Stores, enabling data-driven decisions at scale across a $50B+ retail ecosystem.

The Data Modeler is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise data models that support analytics, reporting, operational systems, and data governance initiatives. This role works closely with business stakeholders, data architects, data engineers, and analysts to ensure data is structured, governed, and optimized for business consumption.

Key Responsibilities

• Design conceptual, logical, and physical data models for enterprise data platforms.
• Translate business requirements into scalable data structures and schemas.
• Build mapping documents and Document technical requirements
• Develop dimensional models, data marts, and warehouse models for analytical use cases.
• Partner with Data Engineering teams to implement data models in cloud and on-premises environments.
• Define data standards, naming conventions, and modeling best practices.
• Collaborate with business teams to understand data requirements and data relationships.
• Support data governance, metadata management, and data lineage initiatives.
• Optimize data models for performance, scalability, and maintainability.
• Participate in architecture reviews and data platform modernization efforts.
• Ensure compliance with enterprise security and regulatory requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent Engineering skillset / training / work experience in relevant technical domain
• 14+ years of strong experience in data modelling and database design
• Strong knowledge of relational, dimensional, and data warehouse modeling techniques.
• Experience with SQL and database platforms such as SQL Server, Oracle, Snowflake, Databricks, or PostgreSQL.
• Experience with data modeling tools such as ERwin, ER/Studio, SAP PowerDesigner, or similar.
• Strong understanding of ETL/ELT processes and data integration concepts.
• Leads discussions on design approaches to solving visible, strategic and complex business problems.
• Identifies emerging technologies for consideration for new technology direction and implements proof of concepts to prove the new technology.
• Maintains broad knowledge in the business applications / services that comprise a given technical domain.
• Provides technical subject matter expertise and insight related to the business applications in a given technical domain.
• Acts in Lead Engineer capacity for medium to large initiatives, prioritizing and assigning tasks, providing guidance and resolving issues.
• Design, code, test, deploy & support working software /technology component, working collaboratively with architects and other engineers.
• Strong communication and influence skills. Solid team leadership with mentorship skills
