Job summary

Charles Schwab India is seeking a Senior Specialist Software Engineer to design, develop, test, and support secure, scalable software solutions. You will collaborate with senior engineers, architects, product owners, and cross-functional teams to build cloud-native, API-first systems using microservices and event-driven architectures.

The role emphasizes modern software practices, code quality, automation, and AI-assisted development within an Agile environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in CS/Engineering or related field
• +5 years of software development experience in enterprise apps
• Proficiency in languages like C#, Java, Python, JavaScript, or TypeScript
• REST APIs development and consumption in distributed systems
• Understanding of microservices, event-driven design and messaging/streaming platforms
• Familiarity with cloud platforms AWS/Azure/hybrid-cloud
• Strong web tech: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript, Angular/React
• Experience with source control, CI/CD pipelines
• Knowledge of design patterns, OOP and software architecture
• Exposure to AI-assisted engineering tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot)
• Well-versed in Agile methodologies and collaborative work styles
• Self-motivated, creative, and time-management oriented

What you have

Required Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of software development experience building enterprise applications.
• Proficiency in one or more modern programming languages such as C#, .NET, Java, Python, JavaScript, or TypeScript.
• Exceptional experience developing and consuming REST APIs and integrating with distributed systems.
• Understanding of microservices architecture, event-driven design, and messaging/streaming platforms such as Kafka or similar technologies.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or hybrid-cloud environments.
• Strong experience and demonstrate proficiency in web-based technologies such as Angular/React, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Typescript, jQuery, Backbone, Bootstrap, Node or similar
• Experience with source control, automated build pipelines, and modern software delivery practices.
• Knowledge of software design patterns, object-oriented programming, and application architecture principles.
• Exposure to AI-assisted engineering tools such as GitHub Copilot or similar developer productivity solutions.
• Thorough understanding of Agile software development methodologies, values, and procedures.
• Self-motivated as well as creative and efficient in proposing solutions to complex, time-critical problems
