Job summary

Cohere Health is seeking a senior automation engineer to raise release quality and environment reliability. You will shape automation strategy across UI, API, and config changes, partnering with Product, Platform, and SRE to reduce production risk while increasing delivery velocity.

This role goes beyond test scripts: you’ll embed quality into the SDLC, influence how changes move from dev to prod, and ensure compliance in a regulated healthcare platform.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years in QA Automation, SDET, or test engineering roles supporting production systems
  • Strong hands-on experience building automation frameworks for UI and API testing
  • Deep experience with modern E2E frameworks (Playwright or Cypress) using TypeScript
  • Strong API automation experience (REST-based testing frameworks)
  • Strong CI/CD experience (GitHub Actions or similar)
  • Experience validating cloud-native systems on AWS
  • Comfortable working in microservices and event-driven architectures
  • Experience testing configuration-driven systems, feature flags, and environment-specific behavior
  • Strong debugging skills across frontend, backend, and infrastructure layers
  • Proven ability to partner with platform / infra teams on release pipelines and deployment safety

Responsibilities

  • Own and evolve end-to-end test automation strategy across UI, API, config changes, and critical workflows
  • Design and maintain scalable E2E automation frameworks for multi-tenant workflows
  • Build automated validation for deployment guardrails, release readiness, and production change safety
  • Partner with Platform/DevOps to integrate automation into CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows
  • Create automated coverage for high-risk paths (authorization flows, partner integrations, file pipelines, feature flags)
  • Drive test reliability, flake reduction, and actionable failure signals
  • Define and enforce quality gates for prod releases and canary deployments
  • Collaborate with Product and Engineering to ensure measurable outcomes
  • Improve test data management and environment stability for reliable automation
  • Mentor engineers on testability and quality-first development
  • Partner with SRE and Security to ensure production readiness and compliance
  • Apply AI-assisted tooling to accelerate test creation and coverage
  • Use AI to analyze automation failures and production incidents to reduce flaky tests

Job description

We’re looking for a senior-level automation engineer who will help raise the bar on release quality, environment reliability, and change safety across Cohere’s platform. You’ll partner closely with Product, Engineering, Platform, and SRE to build scalable automation, guardrails, and validation systems that reduce production risk while increasing delivery velocity.

This is not a “test scripts only” role. You’ll shape automation strategy, embed quality into the SDLC, and help define how changes move safely from dev → staging → UAT → prod in a fast-moving healthcare platform.

You’ll help define how quality scales as Cohere grows. This role has real influence over release safety, platform reliability, and how engineering teams ship software in a regulated, high-impact domain. You won’t just test features — you’ll shape how Cohere delivers them safely to production.

What you’ll do
  • Own and evolve Cohere’s end-to-end test automation strategy across UI, API, config changes, and critical workflows
  • Design and maintain scalable E2E automation frameworks for multi-tenant, payer-specific workflows
  • Build automated validation for deployment guardrails, release readiness, and production change safety
  • Partner with Platform/DevOps to integrate automation into CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows
  • Create automated coverage for high-risk paths (authorization flows, partner integrations, file pipelines, feature flags, config changes)
  • Drive test reliability, flake reduction, and actionable failure signals
  • Define and enforce quality gates for prod releases, blue/green and canary deployments, and config changes
  • Collaborate with Product and Engineering to ensure business outcomes are testable, measurable, and observable
  • Improve test data management and environment stability to enable reliable automation at scale
  • Mentor engineers on testability, automation best practices, and quality-first development
  • Partner with SRE and Security to ensure production readiness, observability, and compliance expectations are met
  • Apply AI-assisted tooling to accelerate test creation and expand coverage for high-risk user flows, integrations, and configuration-driven behavior
  • Use AI to analyze automation failures and production incidents to reduce flaky tests and prioritize new test coverage around real failure patterns
Required Qualifications
  • 6+ years in QA Automation, SDET, or test engineering roles supporting production systems
  • Strong hands-on experience building automation frameworks for UI and API testing from the ground up, and setting up repeatable datasets
  • Deep experience with modern E2E frameworks (Playwright or Cypress) using TypeScript
  • Strong API automation experience (REST-based testing frameworks)
  • Strong CI/CD experience (GitHub Actions or similar)
  • Experience validating cloud-native systems on AWS
  • Comfortable working in microservices and event-driven architectures
  • Experience testing configuration-driven systems, feature flags, and environment-specific behavior
  • Strong debugging skills across frontend, backend, and infrastructure layers
  • Proven ability to partner with platform / infra teams on release pipelines and deployment safety
Nice-to-haves
  • Performance and reliability testing experience (e.g., k6 or similar)
  • Healthcare or regulated domain experience
Ability to commute/relocate
  • Hyderabad, Telangana*: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Preferred)
