Job summary

Cashfree Payments seeks a Senior Product Manager for the Merchant Onboarding POD to evolve onboarding capabilities, ensuring a world-class experience and seamless First Transaction. You will lead regulatory strategy, coordinate with Payments and UX/UI teams, and drive automation using AI to shorten onboarding times.

Responsibilities include owning the product backlog, collaborating with Sales, Marketing, Operations, Data Scientists, and Analysts, and delivering high-impact onboarding journeys

Qualifications

• 6+ years of product management experience with a B.Tech and MBA or equivalent.
• Direct experience with payment technologies or understanding of payment systems and APIs.
• Proven track record delivering technology-first and scalable product solutions with engineering teams.
• Strong influencing skills to persuade across Sales, Legal, Engineering.
• Experience in cross-functional agile product teams.
• Experience collaborating with UX/UI teams for customer-first products.
• Ability to weigh complex trade-offs in regulatory environments and make decisive calls.
• Deep analytical skills using structured and unstructured data to define metrics and inform decisions.
• Able to simplify technical/regulatory concepts for diverse audiences.
• Proficiency in Python/SQL or willingness to learn another language.

What You Will Need:

• 6+ years of product management experience with a strong foundational background, typically including a B. Tech and MBA or equivalent professional experience.
• Direct experience with payment technologies or a profound understanding of how complex payment systems and APIs work.
• A proven track record of working closely with engineering teams to define and deliver technology-first and scalable product solutions.
• Exceptional influencing skills required to compel and persuade individuals and teams across the organization (e.g., Sales, Legal, Engineering) without direct authority.
• Demonstrated experience operating effectively in a cross-functional, agile product team environment.
• Experience collaborating with UX/UI teams to envision, scope, and build customer-first products that deliver superior user experiences.
• Proven ability to weigh complex product trade-offs and make clear, decisive calls, especially in ambiguous and fast-changing regulatory environments.
• Deep analytical skills to use both structured and unstructured data to define key metrics, validate product hypotheses, and inform critical business decisions.
• Ability to simplify highly complex technical and regulatory concepts and communicate them with clear, logical thinking to diverse audiences.
• Proficiency in writing code in Python, SQL, or a willingness to rapidly learn any other structured programming language to facilitate data analysis and prototyping.

What You Will Do (Focus: Merchant Onboarding POD)

As a Senior Product Manager in the Merchant Onboarding POD, you will be instrumental in evolving Cashfree Payments' Merchant Onboarding capabilities, ensuring a world class onboarding experience, leading to a seamless First Transaction!

Core Merchant Onboarding Product Strategy & Execution:

• Regulatory Leadership: Deeply understand and proactively monitor the rapidly changing regulatory landscape for Merchant acquiring. Ensure Cashfree Payments not only remains compliant but innovates at a higher velocity than the market, leveraging new regulations as a competitive advantage.
• Onboarding Capabilities Development: Develop and strategically scale our in-house onboarding capabilities to handle Merchant identification, MCC detection, Authorised representatives validation workflows etc. with maximum efficiency, reliability, and security.
• Merchant Journeys: Work with the core Payment and UI/UX teams to develop a seamless Day 0 Journey for newly onboarded merchants to ensure a world class First Transaction experience.
• Artificial intelligence: Leverage various AI integrations and tools to automate various Merchant Onboarding workflows, leading to significant reduction in onboarding time.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Product Ownership:

• Be an active listener to deeply understand and synthesize comments and concerns expressed by internal and external stakeholders.
• Effectively work with stakeholders across the organization to prioritize the highest-impact problems to solve.
• Own and manage the product backlog, meticulously prioritizing product stories and managing execution in engineering sprints.
• Clearly identify and articulate the impact of product decisions on upstream and downstream systems, detailing trade-offs, and calculating the anticipated benefits.
• You will work extremely closely with all cross-functional stakeholders, including and not limited to the Sales Team, Marketing Team, Operations Team, Software Developers, Data Scientists, Service Designers, and Business Analysts to deliver unified solutions.
