Job summary

Objective of the Position

To lead end-to-end import and export operations, regulatory compliance, customs documentation, and logistics coordination. The role ensures smooth clearance of shipments, optimizes freight costs, maintains adherence to Indian Customs and DGFT policies, and minimizes demurrage or detention risks.

Functional / Core Competencies
  • Customs Documentation & Regulatory Clearance: Deep proficiency in drafting, scrutinizing, and filing Bills of Entry (Home Consumption, Bond, Ex-Bond) and Export Shipping Bills via the ICEGATE portal. High precision in verifying Invoice, Packing List, and IGM details to prevent customs filing errors.
  • DGFT & EXIM Scheme Management: Hands-on experience applying for, issuing, and registering EPCG licenses, IGCR certificates (for EOUs), RoDTEP scrips, and Certificates of Origin (COO) through DGFT and related EDI systems.
  • Customs Tariff Classification & Compliance: Expertise in classifying goods according to the Indian Customs Tariff, determining applicable duty rates, tracking daily CBIC/DGFT notification changes, and managing provisional assessment closures and bond cancellations.
  • Customs Bonded Warehouse & Stock Control: Ability to evaluate warehouse space availability, secure space availability certificates, and maintain meticulous stock balances for bonded goods.
  • Freight Negotiation & Carrier Operations: Skilled in negotiating optimal freight rates with forwarders and shipping lines. Proficient in coordinating Bill of Lading (BL) drafts, Delivery Orders (DO), e-Way bills, and inland container transport while mitigating demurrage and detention risks.
  • Customs EDI & Port Registration Protocols: Hands-on experience with AD Code registration, KYC processing, and obtaining self-sealing permissions for export units at Customs EDI.
  • ERP & Systems Proficiency: Operating knowledge of SAP (ECC / SAP Logon) for generating export documentation, combined with G-Card certification standards for port and Customs House Agent (CHA) operations.

Role & Responsibility
Procurement & Purchase Order Management:
  • Responsible for raising, tracking, and managing Purchase Orders (POs) for Alloy, Bushings, and all logistics‑related services (freight, CHA, transport, warehousing) as and when required by plant operations.
  • Coordinate with commercial, finance, and procurement teams to ensure accurate PO alignment against vendor quotes and contract terms prior to release.
Customs Clearance & ICEGATE Operations:
  • Prepare, scrutinize, and file Bills of Entry (Home Consumption, Warehousing, Ex-Bond) and Export Shipping Bills via the ICEGATE portal.
  • Ensure accurate tariff classification, HSN coding, and applicable duty rates according to current CBIC notifications.
  • Manage customs bonded warehouse operations, space availability certificates, and stock balance tracking.
  • Handle AD code registration, KYC registration at Customs EDI, self‑sealing permissions, and closure of bonds or provisionally assessed entries.
EXIM Compliance & DGFT Documentation:
  • Monitor daily updates from DGFT and CBIC websites regarding import‑export policies.
  • Application, issuance, registration, and monitoring of EPCG Licenses and IGCR certificates for EOUs.
  • Generate RoDTEP scrips on ICEGATE and file applications for Certificates of Origin (COO) and Export Promotion Council turnover submissions.
Logistics, Freight & Carrier Management:
  • Negotiate air/sea freight rates and local transport rates for import and export shipments.
  • Verify IGM details, draft Bills of Lading, e-Way bills, and delivery orders with shipping lines and freight forwarders.
  • Track container status at ports, CFS, or inland transit to avoid demurrage and detention charges.
  • Coordinate factory dispatches and site deliveries in alignment with operational requirements.
ERP & Reporting:
  • Prepare export and import documentation using SAP (ECC / SAP Logon / S4 HANA).
  • Maintain daily and monthly EXIM status reports for senior management.
