Job summary

Philips is seeking a Sr. Mechanical Engineer in India to lead design and development of mechanical subsystems for medical devices. The role requires hands-on CAD and FEA work, interfacing with electrical and software teams, and implementing DFM concepts for plastics and metal parts.

The candidate should have strong physics expertise, experience with Creo, Matlab/Simulink, Windchill PLM, and NPI to translate ideas into manufacturable products. IEC 60601 knowledge is a plus.

Qualifications

• BE/BTech/ME/MTech in Mechanical or Mechatronics.
• 5+ years of design and development of plastic molded and sheet-metal components.
• Experience with medical device standards (IEC 60601) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Strong understanding of physics and hand calculation for strength and stiffness.

Your Role

• Strong understanding of physics and hand calculation of the mechanical components for deciding strength, stiffness etc.
• Good Understanding of interfacing of Mechanical components with electrical components and software.
• Selection of the shelf component such as like Motors, belts , pulleys, Ball screw.
• Hands on Experience in Matlab, Simulink, Simscape.
• Hands on experience in structural design(Ansys or equivalent), CAD(Creo and Equivalent), Windchill PDM / PLM for managing lifecycle of the components.
• Knowledge in manufacturability considerations for Plastic, Sheetmetal, Casting Components.
• Experience in conducting verification and experimental testing at components / subsystem level.
• Identifying the suitable material, apply DFM/DFA concepts in design.
• Experience with standard NPI / NPD process: Ideation to Industrialization.
• Familiar with latest engineering design and methods, tools, and processes
• Experience in Medical Device development and knowledge of IEC 60601 standards will be an added advantage.
• Disciplined team worker, ability to work independently with timely guidance.
• Result oriented team player.
• Excellent communication skills and Positive ‘can do’ attitude.
• Quality mindset in design and documentation.

• Completed Engineering studies at University level; BE/BTech/ME/MTech in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering.
• 5+ years of experience in design & development of system/subsystem having plastic molded and sheet-metal components
