Job Overview

The Manufacturing Leader will oversee planning, development, implementation and maintenance of manufacturing methods, processes and operations for new and existing products, ensuring effective use of materials, equipment and personnel and minimal costs.

Responsibilities

• Direct and control staff to execute the business plan.
• Maintain a professional work environment: recruit, train and motivate staff.
• Set priorities to balance support among Production, Engineering, and E.S., and hold the group and individuals accountable for decisions and performance.
• Optimize the area around the business plan and coordinate production manufacturing strategies.
• Develop and maintain quality standards and maintain ISO/TS registration.
• Sustain process uniformity and operational efficiency, and respond to business plan changes.
• Ensure all programs, processes and equipment meet agreed standards, and collaborate with area planners for accurate planning data.
• Coordinate and implement manufacturing strategies, make tough decisions, analyze business drivers, focus on real value‑adding actions, align the area mission with the changing business plan and plan for required capacity and resource adjustments.
• Develop and implement capacity plans with other managers to cover capacity requirements.
• Analyze observable workplace behavior, associate it with environmental factors, identify causes, design possible interventions, and monitor results.
• Define roles and responsibilities for jobs, set performance expectations, plan team member development, conduct performance appraisals, and implement appropriate learning opportunities.
• Actively develop leaders, support Micron growth, and incorporate succession planning.
• Promote a culture of “doing things right the first time”, identify and promote equipment, process and quality improvements, lower cost, improve yield and cycle time, and use metrics to identify productivity opportunities.
• Ensure effective risk management in improvement implementation and maintain an efficient training program.
• Prepare, monitor and control budgets, prevent unnecessary bureaucracy, identify cost‑saving opportunities and keep work within budget guidelines.
• Approve and monitor area facilities and project work for cost, review variable pay programs, reduce variable cost and wafer/package cost, and respond to internal and external customer issues.
• Provide advice and assistance to customers, maintain continuous feedback on product or service quality, and seek to exceed standards for customer service.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of relevant technology, oversee new technology implementation and keep the company competitive technically, and stay informed about market and competitor activity.
• Observe all environmental, health, safety, and security policies, follow guidelines, report violations and cooperate with audits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (minimum).
• 10+ years of experience in Engineering Management, Production or Manufacturing leadership.
