Job description

Role Purpose

The purpose of this role is to oversee and optimize the movement, storage, and distribution of goods within a specific geographic region. This includes managing transportation, warehousing, inventory control, and ensuring efficient supply chain operations to meet customer demands while minimizing costs and maximizing productivity. The focus is on improving processes, coordinating with suppliers and distributors, and ensuring compliance with regulations and safety standards.

Roles and Responsibilities

Handle 3PL and owned warehouse operations in the East region and closely coordinate with sales and regional depots.

Manage inventory, conduct regular cycle counts, and monitor warehouse KPIs for on‑time invoicing and dispatch.

Maintain safety standards at warehouses, enforce compliance at all facilities, provision monthly warehouse budgets, analyze expenses, and identify cost‑saving opportunities.

Coordinate with depot and business finance to ensure timely stock updates and corrections. Monitor performance metrics to understand service and efficiency trends and identify improvement opportunities.

Share performance information with the team and customers, develop collaborative approaches to correct inefficiencies or system disconnects, and lead cross‑functional work teams to eliminate root causes of supply‑chain inefficiency.

Execute new initiatives such as network optimization, large warehouse setup, and OTIF improvement. Work closely with ZMs to ensure optimum customer service, distribution and Order‑to‑Delivery TAT reduction.

Leverage business tools, account plans, and information systems; collaborate with sales and customers to improve service; lead safety programs at depots; interface with finance for effective order‑to‑cash cycle execution; build business relationships with customers and ensure their satisfaction.

Facilitate quarterly audits of physical stock quantity and age, train warehouse teams on FIFO, implement 5S at all warehouses, update SOPs, roll out depot staff training, define and roll out a PLIP, lead benchmarking initiatives on costs and best practices, implement recommendations, ensure HSE&S compliance, and promote the use of supply‑chain IT for digital initiatives.

Requirements

Postgraduate in Operations Management (preferably from NITIE, IIM, SP Jain) with 5+ years of experience in logistics and customer operations, FMCG, building material sales/distribution/planning/operations.
