Job summary

Jindal Stainless Limited is seeking a Senior Manager – Mechanical for SMS-3 to lead mechanical project execution from engineering through commissioning.

You will coordinate with EPC contractors, vendors and internal teams, supervise erection and alignment, and ensure safety, quality and budget adherence while delivering on schedule and milestones.

Qualifications

• B.Tech in mechanical engineering.
• 8–12 years of experience in steel industry.

Responsibilities

• Execute mechanical packages from detailed engineering through commissioning.
• Monitor installation of SMS equipment and review drawings, GA drawings, P&IDs, and vendor documents.
• Coordinate with equipment suppliers, EPC contractors and internal teams to ensure schedule and quality.
• Supervise erection and installation of mechanical equipment and ensure proper alignment and connections.
• Prepare erection and commissioning schedules; participate in FAT, inspections, and vendor meetings.
• Support handover documentation, O&M manuals, spare lists and as-built drawings.

Function: Mechanical Project Execution

Job Purpose
Execute mechanical project activities for SMS-3, covering engineering coordination, procurement support, erection, commissioning, and equipment handover while ensuring adherence to schedule, quality, safety, and budget.

Key Responsibilities:

• Execute assigned mechanical packages from detailed engineering through commissioning.
• Monitor installation of SMS equipment such as Primarily - Induction furnaces, and have basic knowledge of other downstream equipments such as AOD,LRF & EOT cranes,etc.
• Review mechanical drawings, equipment layouts, GA drawings, P&IDs, equipment specifications, and vendor documents.
• Coordinate with equipment suppliers, EPC contractors, consultants, and internal stakeholders.
• Monitor manufacturing and delivery of mechanical equipment.
• Participate in technical discussions, design reviews, FAT, inspections, and vendor meetings.
• Supervise erection and installation of mechanical equipment.
• Ensure proper alignment, levelling, grouting, lubrication, piping, hydraulic and pneumatic connections.
• Prepare and monitor erection and commissioning schedules.
• Coordinate with Electrical, Instrumentation, Automation, Civil, Production, and Maintenance teams.
• Identify construction and commissioning issues and ensure timely resolution.
• Preside in pre-commissioning, dry runs, wet trials, hot trials, and performance testing.
• Ensure timely completion of punch points and documentation.
• Prepare progress reports and highlight critical project risks to management.
• Support preparation of O&M manuals, spare lists, as-built drawings, and final handover documentation.

Qualifications & Experience:

• B.Tech in mechanical engineering
• Experience of 8-12 years in steel industry.
