Job summary

Tata Communications Limited in Delhi is seeking an experienced Senior Legal Counsel to lead the Commercial Team’s legal oversight and contract governance.

You will advise on and resolve matters, draft and negotiate contracts, coordinate external counsel, and support multiple business units with risk analysis and compliance. The role demands leadership, strategic thinking, and a proactive approach to streamline contracting processes.

Qualifications

• Law degree and active license to practice law in the region.
• 9–12 years of relevant experience in commercial law and governance.

Responsibilities

• Acts as the main escalation and supervision point for the Commercial Team
• Advises on and resolves matters, including contract drafting and negotiation
• Coordinates the commercial team's overall use of external counsel and legal support of other departments
• Conducts legal research and analysis on selected topics, prepares memoranda, opinions and position papers upon request
• Acts as main liaison point for banking and financing transactions; resolves complex and general commercial transactions with minimal supervision
• Assist the operations in connection with the Company's Contract Management System and ensure strong coordination with various business units within the Company w. r. t same.
• Proactively addresses new processes to expedite legal support, legal documentation and management of risks
• Responsible for spearheading the department's improvement projects related to streamlining documentation and contracting processes
• Implements processes, procedures and documentation for new services
• Maintains the Company's standard template agreements (including service schedules) and related documentation;

Qualification & Experience

• Law degree and actively licensed to practice law in the region
• 9-12 years of relevant experience
