Weekday AI (YC W21) is seeking a senior leader in M&A and Corporate Development to drive inorganic growth for a major client in the NCR. The role emphasizes deal origination, market mapping, and stakeholder management within the BFSI sector.

The candidate will lead acquisition pipelines, supervise negotiations, and collaborate with leaders across strategy, finance, legal, and risk to execute high-impact transactions.

Qualifications

• 9–15 years of experience in M&A, corporate development, or related fields with strong deal origination.
• Deep BFSI sector knowledge and ability to build senior-level relationships.
• Proven track record of sourcing and closing acquisition opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Lead M&A origination across BFSI segments and identify opportunities aligned with growth objectives.
• Develop and maintain an acquisition pipeline across banking, insurance, fintech, and related segments.
• Conduct market and industry mapping to identify targets and consolidation opportunities.
• Originate and evaluate transactions using research, networks, and relationship-building.
• Engage with promoters, CXOs, bankers, PE investors, and other stakeholders.
• Develop investment theses and business cases for opportunities.
• Collaborate with strategy, finance, legal, risk, and business teams to assess fit and feasibility.
• Coordinate due diligence, valuation, negotiations, and deal structuring with advisors.

As a senior leader in M&A and Corporate Development, you will play a key role in shaping the organizations inorganic growth strategy. You will independently lead deal origination, conduct market and industry mapping, identify potential acquisition targets, and build a high-quality pipeline aligned with the organizations strategic priorities.

The ideal candidate will combine strong BFSI industry knowledge with proven expertise in M&A, corporate development, deal origination, and stakeholder management.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead M&A origination across segments within the BFSI industry, identifying opportunities that align with the organizations strategic and growth objectives.
• Develop and maintain a robust acquisition pipeline across banking, NBFCs, insurance, fintech, wealth management, asset management, lending, payments, and other relevant financial services segments.
• Conduct comprehensive market and industry mapping to identify emerging businesses, attractive sub-sectors, consolidation opportunities, and potential acquisition targets.
• Originate and evaluate potential transactions through extensive market research, industry intelligence, professional networks, and relationship building.
• Build and maintain relationships with promoters, founders, CXOs, investment bankers, private equity investors, advisors, and other relevant stakeholders.
• Develop investment theses and preliminary business cases for potential acquisition opportunities.
• Work closely with internal leadership, strategy, finance, legal, risk, and business teams to assess strategic fit and transaction feasibility.
• Coordinate with advisors and external stakeholders during due diligence, valuation, negotiations, and transaction structuring.
• Track competitive M&A activity, industry consolidation, regulatory developments, and market trends to identify new opportunities.
• Prepare and present opportunity assessments, transaction rationale, market intelligence, and pipeline updates to senior leadership.
• Support negotiations and transaction execution from initial discussions through signing and closure.
• Develop a structured framework for continuously sourcing and prioritizing potential acquisition opportunities.
